Meghan Markle slays in green cape dress as she makes her last appearance as a working royal
Meghan Markle and Harry attended their final event as senior working royals on Monday. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex joined the Queen and other members of the royal family at the Westminster Abbey for Commonwealth Day service.
According to Elle, the couple were seated along with other guests before the Queen's arrival and were not a part of her procession. Meghan stunned the crowds with a green Emilia Wickstead cape dress and wore a matching William Chambers hat. Meanwhile, her husband Harry wore a suit as he sat alongside her.
It is important to note this is the Sussexes' last announced event before they embark on a journey to transition out of their roles as senior royal members beginning March 31. Over the past week, Harry and Meghan did a series of engagements in the UK. They were last seen at the Mountbatten Festival of Music on Saturday night, wearing red ensembles.
The couple will return to Canada to reunite with son Archie following the Commonwealth Day Service.
However, their next steps are yet to be formally announced later this spring.
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to develop their non-profit organization and plan for their future, we hope that you use this site as the source for factual information," the couple wrote on their website. "In Spring 2020, their digital channels will be refreshed as they introduce the next exciting phase to you."
Speaking to Elle on Sunday, a royal insider shared that the Duke and Duchess have their work cut out for them once they return to Canada.
"Moving forward, the focus for the couple goes back to preparations for their non-profit organization and numerous charitable endeavors—Harry busy with the next stages of Travalyst and Meghan working on at least two new projects," the insider said. "They’re stepping into unchartered territory but couldn’t be more excited about the year ahead. It’s the new chapter they’ve been longing for."
