Family consultant reasons that Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's radically different backgrounds could be causing a 'power-play' between them
Soon after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they were moving out of the Kensington Palace to a cottage in Windsor, rumors of a rift in the royal family emerged. While at first there were talks of strained relations between Prince Harry and Prince William, the focus soon shifted to the respective wives - the Duchess of Sussex and the Duchess of Cambridge. It was reported that things were not good between the two and that Kate Middleton had even scolded Meghan for her behavior with her staff. Following that there reports of how Meghan was a difficult person to work with and as a result of which some of her newly appointed staff had even quit.
News reports claimed it was palace sources telling them all these details and the Kensington Palace immediately went into damage control mode trying to keep such rumors and stories from escaping into the public domain. However, royal family observers and experts who have been watching things unfold may have formed a conclusion for themselves.
Recently in an interview with Express.co.uk Sheela Mackintosh-Stewart, who happens to be a divorce lawyer and a family consultant revealed that it doesn't matter whether the rumors are true or not, the tension between in-laws is a common thing. And is more commonly seen in the relationship of Meghan and Middleton because of their different backgrounds and the way they were brought up.
“Kate and Meghan are like chalk and cheese with radically different personalities, characters, backgrounds, and upbringings. On the one hand, we have a reserved, privately educated, family-focused English woman, who has never really worked outside of her royal duties. On the other hand, we have a go-getter American actress who is direct, goal-orientated, impatient, driven and outspoken," Stewart stated. She continued to add that because of these differences it has started a power play between the two.
Stewart also said that Markle might be feeling a bit more vulnerable because she is the newcomer in the family. "She is still adjusting to royal life and the expectations associated with it - a curtailing of freedom and independence, a new culture, a new way of life and new family members. In contrast, Kate is a fairly established member of the Royal Family, so it is unsurprising that we are seeing a certain power-play between the two women," said the expert.
This information comes after it was rumored that the Duchess of Sussex is finding it hard to manage her royal family role an at the same time there are rumors going around about the rift between her and the Duchess of Cambridge.
Markle is facing a lot of problems for quite some time now. Melanie Bromley, the royal expert told on E! News that even Middleton didn't face such issues when she first joined the royal family. "But Kate didn’t have this. Even Kate who, she had longer to prepare, any negative press she got was like, oh her mother worked for an airline, whatever it was, or Kate’s uncle was a bit controversial with his ‘Maison de Bang Bang’ in Ibiza. But it was nothing like this, what Meghan’s had to deal with as far as her father against her, her sister and her half brother, has been terrible," Bromley revealed.
She also spoke about how Markle is currently receiving the same kind of treatment that Princess Diana received when she joined the Royal Family. "While it was great at first – it looks great on the outside, becoming a duchess, becoming a princess – but it’s horrific. It’s a gilded cage and now she’s under so much negative attention and there’s nothing she can do about it," she added.
