Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton the "least hardworking" members of the British royal family
Amid rumors of feud between the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, it has been revealed that they were the "least hardworking" members of the British royal family last year.
The names were revealed by the Court Circular which shows how many days each royal member conducted their official royal duties.
This was the first time that Meghan Markle appeared on the list given her wedding to Prince Harry in May last year. Meghan carried out around 96 engagements. Technically Kate Middleton was supposed to be the "least hardworking" royal in 2018 as she carried out only 87 engagements. But she had to reschedule a lot of her engagements as she was pregnant with Prince Louis. Kate was on maternity leave and resumed her royal duties only in September.
As reported by Express, Anti-monarchy group Republic shared, "How can the monarchy survive when the younger generation can’t be bothered to do even the light workload of their parents? It’s not work as the rest of us know it."
"Their hours include watching sports matches and theatre. But the real question these figures raise is does William want to be king? Or is he just doing the bare minimum to keep his family happy in the hope he can have his cake and eat it?" Prince William has carried out around 220 engagements in the UK and abroad.
The Queen who is currently 92-years-old carried out around 283 engagements. Prince William carried out half the number of engagements as compared to his father Prince Charles who did a total of 507 engagements. Prince Harry, on the other hand, carried out even lesser engagements as compared to Prince William.
The hardest working Royal was revealed to be Princess Anne who carried out around 518 engagements. The Queen's daughter has engaged herself with over 300 charities, organizations, and military regiments and frequently conducts official visits. She also works with the Carers Trust which helps support disabled or chronically ill family members or friends.
Prince Edward was also named amongst the more hardworking royals and carried out around 463 engagements. Prince Andrew carried out around 394 engagements while his wife, Countess of Wessex Sophie carried out around 239 engagements.
