'Mean' Gene Okerlund, famed legendary wrestling announcer dies at the age of 76

WWE described him as "the most recognizable interviewer in sports-entertainment history" and was last seen on WWE TV in January 2018

"Mean" Gene Okerlund, the legendary pro-wrestling interviewer, died at the age of 76 on January 2. His death was confirmed by his daughter-in-law, Patricia Okerlund, but the cause was not released. However, it was reported that Okerlund had been hospitalized with kidney disease. He had kidney transplants in 1995 and 2004 and made his last appearance on WWE TV in January 2018.
