'Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition': Is Vado and Tahiry's fight staged? Fans speculate after video surfaces
The upcoming episode of 'Marriage Boot Camp: Hip Hop Edition' looks jam-packed with drama, going by the preview clips doing the rounds. Just ahead of the new episode's release, the show's host Dr Ish Major posted an appalling video from the upcoming episode on his Twitter. The video focuses on one of the show's couple — Tahiry Jose and her boyfriend Vado.
In the clip we see Vado getting upset with something that Tahiry said, so he goes to her and begins choking her while the other couples watch them in horror. Dr Ish could later be seen pulling Vado away from Tahiry and telling him off for laying his hands on his girlfriend.
After watching the clip, fans were divided on what they saw. Some fans felt that the scene was "staged" because not a single person in the room came to Tahiry's rescue apart from Dr Ish. Also, the clip was released on the day of the episode's airing, leading fans to believe it is a clever marketing ploy.
A fan tweeted, "Reality shows are the new WWE, if Vado really wanted to choke Tahiry out he could, s**t looked so fake, so staged, it’s good marketing, u know it’s fake & u still mad a** hell lmao." Another fan shared, "That Vado and tahiry s**t funny because you know it’s staged." Another fan wrote, "That Vado choking Tahiry s**t looked kinda staged and if it was... EVERYONE involved is MAD corny." One more said, "That Tahiry and Vado s**t is scripted. Ain't no credible network about to show a woman being choked out," echoed another fan.
Few fans felt that the video clip might not be staged and might be real after all. A fan shared, "People sayin the Vado and Tahiry clip is staged but I lean toward it more likely being real because like... why stage such a thing in this current social climate?? And why would he agree, knowing it would ruin his reputation?" One more said, "For people to think the Vado/Tahiry thing is scripted is beyond me. Further proves how people don’t take violence against Black women seriously at all, especially at the hands of Black men. Like when has domestic violence ever been used for shock factor in reality tv? Come on now." Another fan expressed, "TW — Abuse — I just saw the video of Vado putting his hands around Tahiry’s neck. If it wasn’t scripted, that’s messed up. If it was scripted, why would he agree to even make himself look like an abuser?"
Tahiry herself took to her Instagram to clarify that the scene wasn't staged. She wrote, "Let me be CLEAR for all the people that are saying that this was 'scripted' it is NOT! As a woman that has already suffered physical abuse at the hands of a man why would I ever want to relive that? There is no check big enough for me to EVER play like that!" She explained how no money in the world would convince her to portray herself as a victim of domestic abuse.
