'Mayans MC' Season 2 'Xquic' sees Adelita's rescue ending in heartbreak as she decides to continue the mission
Spoilers ahead for Season 2 Episode 5 of 'Mayans MC' titled 'Xquic'
Episode five 'Xquic' of 'Mayans MC' was a thrilling ride till it ended. The episode revolved around the Galindo Cartel and the Mayans working together to rescue Adelita (Carla Baratta) from Potter's (Ray McKinnon) mercenaries.
Last week, Adelita was captured by Potter's mercs. When they arrived, they discovered Miguel (Danny Pino) already there pretending that he was also tracking her down instead of working along with her as he had all this while.
The fact that Miguel is double-crossing the Feds comes to Potter, who asks Anna Linares (Efrat Dor) if she finds it strange that Miguel was also hunting down Adelita behind their backs. Potter then plans to move Adelita from Mexico to the United States to question her about the rebels.
He tells Adelita that he has no intention of harming the baby — that she will be taken to a secret location till she delivers and then they will use the baby to extract information about the rebels from her. He knows torturing her won't do him any good.
While his plan is in motion, the Galindo cartel and the Mayans are concocting a plan of their own. They track down the location of the safehouse where Adelita is kept.
At first, Angel (Clayton Cardenas) — who hasn't told anyone that he is the father of Adelita's baby — is instructed by Bishop (Michael Irby) to stay in the tunnel and handle communications.
A livid Angel tells Bishop that he refuses to obey him: "F*** you! You can't stop me from doing this!" Their altercation leads to a tussle with Bishop clearly winning until Angel blurts out that it is really his baby: "It's my kid!"
Bishop lets him in on the operation, obviously. But he quickly grows anxious since they can't locate Adelita as of yet. After the second car leaves with another pregnant woman, the Mayans follow the car prepared to rescue her.
When the cars pull up a little while later, Angel is furious when he finds that they followed the wrong car. That is when EZ remembers the station wagon that pulled up just as the Mayans were leaving — the wagon must have been there to pick up Adelita.
When they finally catch up with the car that has Adelita, she is shocked to discover that they found her. She tells Angel that she cannot escape because if Potter has her in custody, he won't hunt the rebels down.
With this, she tells Angel to leave and keep her mission ongoing. As sirens begin to wail in the distance, a heartbroken Angel doesn't want to leave. EZ practically drags him out, leaving Adelita behind with the dead mercenaries in the car.
Does this mean Potter will be successful is taking Adelita across the border? 'Mayans MC' airs on Tuesdays on FX at 10 pm.
