BERLIN, GERMANY: Sonja Weißer's character in Prime Video's latest German series 'Maxton Hall — The World Between Us' has evoked empathy among viewers since the initial episodes.

Lydia Beaufort, played by Sonja, isn't your regular rich spoiled brat from romantic movies. She is emotional, loyal, and ambitious. However, the patriarchal world keeps pulling her down on all fronts.

Lydia, despite enjoying all the luxuries in her life, finds herself leading an unhappy life. She was the mastermind and talent behind Beaufort's new clothing line.

However, when the crucial moment arrived, Lydia's brother James Beaufort (Damian Hardung) was named as the future CEO of the empire.

Her father keeps her under his thumb, stifling her aspirations whenever she tries to pursue them. Despite her heartbreak, Lydia sacrifices her true love in pursuit of her ambitions, only to face repeated betrayals from her father.

In the finale episode, Lydia is seen struggling after learning about her pregnancy. She even seeks comfort in Ruby Bell's company during an emotional breakdown.

With Ruby's encouragement, Lydia begins to regain her confidence and courage. While it hasn't been explicitly stated, it seems that Lydia may be leaning towards keeping the baby.

Having broken her ties with Professor Sutton, she is most likely to raise the child by herself while pursuing her course at Oxford.

'Maxton Hall — The World Between Us' Season 1 ends with an abrupt conclusion to all the characters, including of Lydia's. Should there be another season, it would explore Lydia's life as a strong, resilient woman.

'Maxton Hall — The World Between Us' is available to stream on Prime Video.
