A Liz Cheney spokesperson slammed Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) for his criticisms against the Congresswoman on Sunday and found equal support from the internet. The unnamed spokesperson lambasted Gaetz, advising him to "leave his beauty bag at home. In Wyoming, the men don’t wear make-up," the Hill reported. The spokesperson was referring to a scene in HBO series 'Swamp', where Gaetz is seen dabbing some makeup on his face before starting his day and work.

These remarks come in the wake of Gaetz's plans to be present at a rally in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where he will reportedly urge Cheney to step downafter she voted in favor of impeaching former President Donald Trump. Cheney, the third-ranking House GOP leader, was one of the ten House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump. The Hill report also said that Trump's allies are looking to remove Cheney due to her vote. Gaetz has been making a case where he has referred to her as "problematic." House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy also said he has concerns over Cheney's vote.

Netizens too slammed Gaetz. "Sir, am I alone in thinking that now trump has been booted out, his sycophants namely Gaetz atm, is going after Liz Cheney for his own political agenda IMO in doing so, he’s putting Liz in extreme danger, he’s always been a despicable vile creature.. this is another level," read one of the tweets.

"Gaetz is too stupid to realize Cheney was being nice: the "c" word (rhymes with bunt) best describes Gaetz. For more on Gaetz being the "c" word: The Republican's New Lie: Big Tech And Democrats Are Trying To Eliminate Republicans And Divide The Country," one comment read. This was seconded by another tweet that read: "Does stable genius Matt Gaetz realize that Haliburton Dick Cheney’s gonna drop a weapon of mass destruction on his head? #LOLGOP."

There was also mockery incoming. "Q: What’s one positive of Republicans fighting dirty? A: When it’s aimed at their own. Grab the popcorn folks. Cheney spokesperson on Gaetz: 'In Wyoming, the men don't wear make-up' | TheHill," one of the people wrote. "And the press needs to report on Matt Gaetz for exactly what he is & the tactics that the GOP employ. What they call governance is blackmail, strongman tactics. Liz Cheney is being attacked by him & his kind for voting her conscience," one of them opined.

Earlier, Gaetz minced no words in his criticism. "Liz Cheney represents a vision of the Republican Party that does not energize anyone outside of the Washington, D.C., Beltway," he told The Hill. Meanwhile, Cheney has put her feet down saying she isn't going anywhere. Adding to this was also his tweet: "By embracing the language and the arguments of the radical left instead of the America First movement, Liz Cheney is spitting into the eyes of tens of millions of Americans," Gaetz said last week.

"All of us have an obligation to the Constitution and an obligation to do what we believe is right, what our oath compels us to do, that is above politics, above partisanship," Cheney was quoted telling Fox News host Dana Perino. "That is, I think, very important, and it's incumbent on all of us. We came to different decisions within our conference about that issue."
