'Love & Hip Hop' star and influencer Masika Kalysha recently came into limelight after she posted an incredibly alarming video on Instagram pretending to be kidnapped and abused. She later returned to say that she used the platform to raise awareness about sex trafficking and nothing has happened to her.

In the video, Masika was seen covered with bruises and other bodily injuries, where she told fans she'd been kidnapped and needed money. "I've been kidnapped. I'm in a warehouse somewhere. Idk where! I'm so scared! They took all my money and they want more! Please! Help me! Subscribe to my Only Fans and tip me. They're coming!!!!" she said. But some people were quick to point out something felt fishy about the video.

And in no time, she deleted the video and returned with an explanation video. She apologized for scaring people and said that she wanted to draw people's attention towards an important issue. She said the bruises were just makeup and she's on set for her new show, a series about child sex-trafficking. "This is a very challenging role for me because this is something I am very passionate about and shooting this show, I've done a lot of research and I've had to dig deep and I just, you know, found out things that I never wanted to know." Masika then gave a shout out to the Rose Organization group that is "doing great things to rescue children and women who have been sex-trafficked."

Soon after she revealed that she wasn't kidnapped, fans started slamming her for the act on social media. One user tweeted, "Masika really put fake bruises all over herself & staged a kidnapping to promote her only fans. So many women and kids go missing every day & this is how you choose to promote your boobs & non massaged lipo belly ? Baby log out for me please and think about what tf you did," while another user wrote, "Masika really brainstormed and came up with this? I mean it's the going into ur bathroom, flipping on the lights, setting out ur makeup, applying each bruise, filming and uploading it for me."

While one fan said that she made a "mockery of violence." "Masika goes out sad each time. This lady really made a mockery of violence + people who have been held against their will. A lot of black girls have been kidnapped.  Trifling." Another user called her out for trying to gain attention and said, "Masika does s**t for attention.. stop making these love and hip hop rejects and social media baby mama’s famous. Promoting child sex tracking so you can get some clicks on your onlyfans is weird as F * * K."

Meanwhile, others some questioned her "awareness" act with one fan writing, "I mean was it for awareness or just to get some attention #masika whatever  it’s working." Another user wrote, "No cause miss mamas was in her bathroom talkin bout shooting a video & had one of her homegirls knock on the door to make it seem like she was needed on set to film. Sure Masika. Sure...."

Another user mocker her and said, "Anyways... how much did you pay that girl in the video to pretend to be a Production Assistant calling you to go 'back on set?' idk if you know this but apologizing is free.. woulda been easier just to do that instead of backpedaling ur just embarrassed u got called out." An angry user wrote, "Wait Masika really faked & made a whole post about her being 'kidnapped' to promote her onlyfans under the guise that she was 'bringing awareness to sex trafficking'? Chille I- It’s the audacity for me. It’s the desperation for me. It’s the disrespect for ACTUAL victims FOR ME"

Some fans pointed out that since she has a daughter, how could she post a fake video of her kidnapping under the guise of spreading awareness around sex trafficking. One user said, "All the sex trafficking going on in the world right now and Masika who also has a daughter thought that was a funny way to promote her 'only fans'." While another one said, "The fact that Masika really thought it was a good idea to fake a kidnapping & abuse to promote her OnlyFans is beyond me. Girl if you’re broke just say it. You have a daughter yet you make a video at the expense of real domestic & kidnap victims? She can keep her fake apology."
