Mary Trump claims uncle Donald Trump's refusal to concede is an 'attempted coup' as Joe Biden won 'legitimately'

While most members of the president's family rally in support of Donald Trump as he refuses to concede the 2020 election to President-elect Joe Biden, one member, albeit estranged, has called out the POTUS for making the smooth transition of the new administration difficult and that is his niece, Mary Trump. 

Mary, who has not hidden her feelings of disdain for her uncle, going far as to write an entire book on it which quickly became a bestseller earlier this year, took to Twitter on Tuesday, November 10, to call the projected winner of the presidential race, Biden by the title he earned, 'President-elect' adding that Trump's cries of foul and voter fraud following the announcement of the election result was an "attempted coup," warning the country to stay "vigilant."

"President-elect Joe Biden won legitimately and decisively. No matter how much Donald and his enablers lie and spin, nothing will change that. But they're going to break as much as they can on the way out. Stay vigilant--this is an attempted coup," she wrote. 

Mary was praised by many of her followers for speaking the truth and embracing the results of the 2020 election. "Biden won. That's the tweet!" one wrote, while another said, "If Trump doesn’t stop this chaos and turmoil he’s causing our country he should be removed from office ASAP. He is creating a dangerous situation. 25A NOW!! BIDEN WON!!" A third commented, "That is TREASON, pure and simple!!"

The next tweeted, "If the GOP wants to invalidate Biden’s win, then they better be ready to challenge McConnell, Graham, Collins and all the House wins" Someone else quipped, "You must have been adopted. You're too good." And another remarked, "Thanks for calling it what it is. A coup. It is a lame coup so far, thank goodness. Mainly they’re all giving each other coronavirus, so far anyway."

Previously, in the wake of Trump losing the election, she took to Twitter to share a very succinct message: "To America. Thanks, guys." She sported a Biden-Harris campaign hat and held up a glass of champagne to toast the victory on November 8, just hours after the election was called in favor of the former vice president. In another post, she wrote: "Overwhelmed. Grateful. Relieved. We did it."

Even before the race was decided, Mary predicted that her uncle would highly likely not concede the race. In a piece in The Guardian, she wrote, "He's [Donald Trump] not going to concede, although who cares. What's worse is he's not going to engage in the normal activities that guarantee a peaceful transition. All he's got now is breaking stuff, and he's going to do that with a vengeance. I've always known how cruel he can be."

"He'll be having meltdowns upon meltdowns right now," she added. "What's interesting is that Donald has never won anything legitimately in his entire life, but because he has been so enabled by people along the way, he has never lost anything either."

Mary also responded to reports last week that Trump would run for president again in 2024 if he lost the election. During her appearance on 'The Dean Obeidallah Show', she said, "I honestly think that's a face-saving ploy. It's so absurd that he actually thinks he's gonna be able to run a campaign from prison.... Maybe he could. I don't know."
