'Married At First Sight': Did Katie Conrad marry Derek Sherman to make her ex-lover jealous? Fans sure think so
Just ahead of decision day, Derek Sherman and Katie Conrad's personal equation seems to have gone off the rail. It wouldn't be too presumptuous to say that their marriage is in choppy waters.
A lover's quarrel is not serious but this 'Married At First Sight' couple has been having a lot of it lately. Along with the other couples from the show, they were vacationing at an undisclosed location. It was a couple's retreat. The idea was to have the pairs explore each other better and have things hashed out before they can take a final call about marriage.
Katie and Derek started off well but it all began to go downhill at the dinner table when he joked with Taylor Dunklin. Katie couldn't take it and left the room and this led to a bitter argument. Even though Derek moved on from it, Katie let it affect her deeply, so much so that she even hinted how unsure she was about their marriage.
The next morning as they toured the area, Derek wanted to make promises for the future and wished to know what she had in mind. While he said he would focus on never giving up on making the marriage work and make sure that they were a team, Katie said: "Can't promise that. I promise to make sure we are happy — whether it's together or apart."
Katie was already second-guessing her decision to stay married with Derek and that reflected clearly in the conversation she had with her father, Dante. She laid it all out on the table — her wants, needs and dreams that she expects Derek to fulfill but added that he is a baby-faced boy. Dante responded with just one question. He asked if she was always this "amped up"? If yes, it would scare Derek away, Dante added and assured her that some people take more time than others.
However, she was still not convinced. Katie said she had to get her ring resized if she wished to keep it.
Meanwhile, fans think Katie is still hung up on her ex and that has her confused about the marriage, with some even saying she has been picking on Derek just so that when she checks out of the marriage, it will be on him.
"Katie has nothing nice to say about Derek to her father and stepmother. She just said she needs to get her ring resized IF she's going to keep it. Katie wants that ex back. Run, Derek, run. Derek is far too good for that self-centered immature spoiled brat," a fan shared. Another wrote: "Katie is still hung up on her ex. She’s looking for any way to sabotage her marriage and make it look like it’s his fault."
