'Married At First Sight': Fans call Katie 'b***hy' for never making Derek feel special, say 'she's the worst'
Derek Sherman and Katie Conrad's journey started off well but somewhere on the way the love was lost. In this week's last and final episode of 'Married at First Sight,' the two have been bickering like a bitter couple who have seen at least 10 years of marriage together and are now finding excuses to get out of it.
Derek and Katie have been married a month and in the guise of communicating openly, they have blamed each other a lot and have abused too. But thankfully they were able to pull themselves out of that zone and celebrate their anniversary the way it should have been celebrated. But the issue is concerning because there are expectations that aren't being fulfilled on both ends.
Katie is disappointed and has been withdrawn ever since Derek said it would be impossible for him to fall in love with someone in a short span of time. On the other hand, her cold approach to situations and their marriage has been bothering him. He feels she has checked out of their bond.
Even then, that realization did not stop Derek from being invested in their relationship. He bought themselves tickets to a concert in Nashville and also surprised her with a photo frame and album that has pictures from her childhood and that of her close family and friends. This goes on to show that maybe Derek isn't good with words but his actions show how much he loves and cares for Katie.
However, misunderstandings, hurt, and disappointment form a major part of any relationship. Katie needs to work on allowing herself to give people second chances. It could be her past experiences that stop her from dropping her guard, being vulnerable and secure, but it's about time she looks past all of it.
Meanwhile, fans are livid that all Katie does is complain and has not for once gone out of her way to make Derek feel special.
"It bothers me how Katie always says “you did good” all the time to Derek like it’s his only job to make her happy, meanwhile she does jack squat for him," a viewer wrote on Reddit, while another shared, "Katie, What have YOU done for Derek lately, other than bitch, bitch, bitch."
"Did anyone else notice how Derek went above and beyond for the anniversary and she did absolutely nothing for him? I’m sick of seeing this expectation where he has to constantly work for her affection and go over the top to impress her, and she gives him nothing in return," a fan expressed.
"I don’t even want to watch Derek and Katie anymore. She’s the worst. He deserves better. I hate seeing him do all this for her and her doing nothing in return," a user posted.
