Lifetime's 'Married at First Sight' is one of the most interesting social experiments in the world. It has a panel of experts that brings together couples who they think are a match. The couples are then informed of their selection, after which they get only 2 weeks to convince their family and friends of their decision to marry a stranger, pick up their wedding outfits, and of course indulge in a little party before they walk down the aisle.

Marrying the person you've met for the first time at the altar is a big deal and definitely takes a lot of grit. Over the years, some have been lucky in love, others not so much. Here we look at some of the controversial/most talked-about splits in the history of the show.

David And Ashley (Season 3)

Right from the start, Ashley wasn't comfortable with the whole idea of being married to David. Whereas, David appeared happy to be sharing his life with her. But things took an ugly turn when Ashley accused David of reaching out to another woman on social media. Even though David insisted that he was only trying to find out about his ex-wife, Ashley was certain that he asked her out. The couple has since gone separate ways and is happy leading different lives, Reality Blurb reported.

Danielle And Cody (Season 5)

This bright couple was married for a year before they decided to call it quits. Ever since they said their "I Dos," Cody and Danielle have been at loggerheads. What made it worse between them was Danielle's disinterest to consummate their marriage. Later, in the reunion episode, she even admitted to not have fallen in love with her husband yet.  "We value and respect marriage, but life is short and we also value happiness. While this was a difficult decision and divorce is not something either of us hoped for, we decided we will be happiest separating," Danielle confirmed their split on Instagram.

Nate and Sheila (Season 5)

What looked like a marriage of dreams turned ugly pretty quick. Nate and Sheila's relationship was widely discussed on social media thanks to their warring tweets directed at each other. Sheila had accused Nate of cheating on her, whereas the other didn't admit to it and released a (now-deleted) statement about how the reason for them filing a divorce was never infidelity, Madamenoire reported. Later, Sheila took to Instagram to clear her stance, saying she wasn't a liar. It all had gotten too nasty.

Molly and Jon  (Season 6)

This had red flags all over it. Jon had quickly become the victim and, of course, had gained viewers' sympathy for being verbally abused. For the most part of the show, he had been on the receiving of Molly's anger. Not being able to take it anymore, he decided on secretly taping her while she went ballistic on him. In addition to this, they also had intimacy issues. She had even said that him touching her makes her "skin crawl" but when at the club, she would dance provocatively. Tired of the mixed signals, Jon showed the video he had taped, which put Molly off immediately and she confessed to having felt betrayed by his actions. No prizes for guessing that the marriage didn't end well.

Mia And Tristan (Season 7)

Theirs is nothing short of a full-fledged romantic drama film. En route honeymoon, Mia was arrested on fraud and stalking charges, a secret she has been keeping from her then-new husband, Newsweek reported. Ever since then, they started to have trust issues with each other but that wasn't the final nail on the coffin. Their last fight happened when Tristan showed pictures of her ex-girlfriend to Mia, complimenting her curves.

Mia reacted strongly to it and that was it for the two. "There was no middle ground. Everything was so extreme. So it was extremely good or extremely bad. On decision day I chose to believe that, those extremely good moments, that there would be more," he told the magazine.

Well, let's hope they find their happy endings with someone in the future.
