'Married at First Sight': Brandon vs production to Tristan kicking Mia out, 5 of the nastiest fights on the show
'Married at First Sight' is a social experiment where experts assess and match applicants based on their life choices, interests and wants. But, it's like a gamble because the bride and groom don't meet until the day of the marriage. So, they don't know each other's names or faces and have nothing much to prepare themselves before the big leap. It can be scary but many have managed to overcome those fierce feelings and found a way to live happily ever after. But not every couple is lucky in love.
Usually, the pairs are given six weeks after marriage to decide whether or not they'd like to continue sharing their lives. Most have chosen to split. The reasons vary from couple to couple. For some, a part of angst may stem from the nasty fights, distrust, incompatibility, boredom, lack of attraction and more. Read on to know five of the nastiest fights that took place on the Lifetime-backed show.
Brandon vs production
Brandon was matched with Taylor in Season 10. They started off well and had a blissful honeymoon, which ended on a bitter note. When angry, Brandon likes to be left alone so that he can contemplate on how a particular situation can be dealt with. But it got a little out of hand when he decided to run the show by himself. After a verbally abusive fight with Taylor, Brandon threatened the production crew that he will take the mic off, when interrupted, he said: "What are you going to do? Are you going to put your hands on me."
Elizabeth vs Jamie
"We are either on cloud nine or calling off the marriage, one of the two," Jamie told Dr Viviana Coles when she entered Jamie and Elizabeth's (who were matched in Season 9) apartment to understand where they were at in their marriage. Moments before she arrived, the couple picked a massive fight. Even though Elizabeth invited Jamie over asking if he had any feedback about the infamous race track incident (where the latter asked her to "shutup for five minutes" so that the rules of the game can be read out), she reacted fiercely when he said that she should not have embarrassed herself and the other couples by yelling. Jamie got immensely riled and pushed the center table around which they were seated. It was quite intense what ensued after. Watch the video.
Jonathan vs Molly
Season 6 couple Jonathan and Molly's issues began when he realized that he was being strung along. A month had passed since they got married but there was no physical intimacy whatsoever. This was too much to handle for Jonathan who said that she was ready to have a threesome with a frat boy at a party but the same treatment could not be meted out to him. He was surprised that the physical distance between them was negligible and yet, he has to have regular conversations about sex so that Molly would understand that it is a part of any healthy marriage. However, Molly wasn't ready for the conversation and therefore, flipped out. She said that she has had partners in the past that she found attractive and so did he.
Tristan vs Mia
Matched in Season 7, Tristan "threw" Mia out after they had a heated argument about him canceling his insurance without letting her know. Her point was that there are certain decisions that they need to take together and how she has not been able to voice her opinions because he tends to speak over her. Unable to tackle the pressure and accusations thrown at him, Tristan took Mia's luggage and kept it outside of their apartment. In her confessional, she shared how the experience felt broken and that their safe place, their home together had suddenly transformed into a battleground.
Katie vs Derek
Katie and Derek, matched in Season 10, were amid their anniversary when Katie decided to rehash their fight from a few hours earlier, during which Derek abused her. She said it wouldn't help the situation if she went to him with her troubles in the hope of them being resolved and be told: " F*** you." "I have realized a new boundary of mine is that I do not want to be cursed at,” the 'Married at First Sight' star expressed. Although the couple's argument wasn't over-the-top and nasty, Derek could have kept the cuss words to himself.
'Married at First Sight' Season 11 is on air on Lifetime. It airs every Wednesday at 8/7c. For more information, check your local listings.
