Mark Meadows slammed as racist for 2012 'Obama go back to Kenya' remark as he defends Trump's Covid-19 relief deal

As Democrats and White House negotiators continue to trade proposals over coronavirus recovery package, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows told CNN  on ‘The Situation Room’ that President Donald Trump is “prepared” to take action on these provisions if Congress doesn’t close the deal by Friday, August 7.

The CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act was passed by Congress earlier this year and signed into law by Trump on March 27, 2020. Over $2 trillion relief package was delivered on Trump’s administration to protect public health and the impact of Covid-19. White House’s latest offers on the table include an extension on the federal unemployment enhancement at a flat rate of $400 per week from the current level of $699 per week and an extension on the federal moratorium until mid-December, according to CNN. The federal eviction moratorium that protected 12 million renters living in subsidized apartments with federally backed mortgages expired on July 25.

Commenting on the proposal trading between the top Democrats and the White House, Meadows said, “What I am saying is by Friday, if we haven't made significant progress and we are just too far apart, the President is prepared to take executive action on those, the two items you are talking about. Making sure eviction protection is done, he will do that through executive action. Making sure enhanced unemployment payments -- that stopped because Democrats refused to say 'yes' just a few days ago."

"He will do executive actions and take executive actions to actually address those two areas to make sure that at least what he can do is take action because Congress won't," he further added.

However, on watching Meadows’s latest interview people took to Twitter to slam him for his alleged racist past, calling him out for spewing “lies” while enabling Trump. Internet users were quick to dig into Meadows’s video from 2012, in which he’s talked about “sending” former President Barack Obama “home to Kenya”.He states in the video, "2012 is the time we're going to send Mr. Obama home to Kenya or wherever it is. We're going to do it!,” according to USA Today.

One agitated Internet user tweeted, “Mark Meadows is not only a trashy racist birther who was taped telling our President Obama to go back to Kenya, he’s also a moronic corrupt sack of diarrhea. I don’t need to hear anything he has to say.” Another added, "I’m going to be as blunt as I can be, Mark Meadows can go f*ck himself. He’s a dumbass lying racist. End."

A lot of them have also noted that they wouldn't believe Meadows owing to his support for the Republican party, which is already under fire for reportedly being ineffectual with its response to the pandemic. While one angry Internet user noted, "NOBODY BELIEVES S**T FROM MARK MEADOWS! His Racist a** can take his Lies and Go Away! #GOPTraitors". Another added to the previous tweet saying, "Racist Mark Meadows is a republiCON, no one expects the truth from his mouth."
