John Boyega has won the hearts of millions with his fierce and passionate speech at the Black Lives Matter protest in London. In a video that is circulating on the internet, he is heard saying, "Black lives have always mattered. We have always been important. We have always meant something. We have always succeeded regardless. And now is the time. I ain’t waiting." He is also seen in other videos encouraging black men to take care of black women, promising, "They are ours!" and encouraging a revitalized sense of responsibility. He also said that he didn't really care what happens to his career after this.

His speech won much awe and appreciation from 'Star Wars' filmmakers JJ Abrams, Rian Johnson as well his co-star Mark Hamill. Hamill tweeted, "Never been more proud of you, dad." Abrams had directed Boyega in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' and 'The Rise Of Skywalker', while Johnson had worked with him in 'The Last Jedi'.

Fans were teary-eyed at this gesture and wasted no time replying to the post. "DAD AAAAAAA JOHN IS THE FINN THAT WE DESERVED BUT DISNEY WAS TOO SCARED TO GIVE US," a fan wrote."You both are true Jedis," another wrote. "MARK, THIS IS SO WHOLESOME," a fan said. "I want to comment something Intelligent, but the wholesomeness of this tweet made my brain come to a complete halt," another responded. "Mr Boyega deserves all the support in the galaxy for his efforts. The power of youth with a strong message. That’s the true Force," another wrote.

Lucasfilm put out a statement backing Boyega saying, "Lucasfilm stands with John Boyega and his message that, 'Now is the time. Black lives have always mattered. Black lives have always been important. Black lives have always meant something'." The company ended its post by calling Boyega a hero. Abrams tweeted, "You KNOW that as long as I’m allowed to keep working, I’ll always be begging to work with you. Deep respect and love, my friend." Both 'Star Wars' and Marvel Studios tweeted their support for the Black Lives Matter movement earlier this week. The parent company Disney just pledged $5M to the NAACP and other social justice organizations.
