Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has reached out to NBA point guard Delonte West on Monday, September 28. Cuban is personally helping Delonte West get back on his feet after picking up the former NBA star at a gas station in Texas, TMZ reports. The ex-Cleveland Cavaliers player has gone through some very rough times over the past few years and was recently spotted holding a sign on the street in Dallas.

An image of West was circulating all across social media, which showed the ex-basketball star panhandling in the area last week. West is said to be a meth-head and was seen loitering around a gas station before being picked up by Cuban.

West's well-being has been a cause of concern for his family and friends for many years and is said to be very open to the idea of entering rehab with Cuban offering to cover the costs of the same. Many social media users have taken to commenting on the news and expressed their concerns. One such user shared, "Delonte never had a real home growing up, to the point of not knowing where to say he was from when he got to St Joe’s. Seems like that life is never more than a few steps away for him. I hope he is able to get back on his feet." Another social media user commented and wrote, "What makes this so great is that you can see Cuban never meant for this to even really be known. Someone just happened to catch it. He did this because it was the right thing to do, not for the publicity."

West had last played in the Mavericks in 2012 with his tragic fall being documented. In 2016, West was unable to revive his professional career and was spotted walking around barefoot outside a Jack In The Box restaurant in Houston dressed in what seemed to be a hospital gown. When asked whether he was West, he had said, "I used to be but I’m not about that life anymore."

According to the Sportsrush, West had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2008. A video shared by Complex Sports shows West at the counter of a gas station market. A little while later, Cuban is seen taking him to his car while sporting a face mask, keeping in mind the Covid-19 regulations.

Back in January, social media had been circulating a picture of a homeless man appearing to be West which had set off many alarms within the NBA community. In a video, a disheveled and handcuffed West was seen on the side of the road post an incident that involved him throwing a glass bottle at another man, NY Post reports.

At the time, Jameer Nelson who had previously played with West had said, "I’m sick today [sic] my stomach right now seeing the videos of Delonte. To answer everybody that’s reaching out to me about his situation … all we can do is pray for Him and his family and hope that he seeks the proper help. Mental illness is something that a lot of people deal with and don’t even know it, until sometimes it’s too late. I’m not sure what exactly is going on with Dwest but he knows I’m in his corner and will help him get through this."
