'Riverdale' star Mark Consuelos rushes in after opponent rips off son's headgear in a school wrestling match

Mark Consuelos let his protective fatherly side get the better of him when he saw his son struggling during a wrestling match. The 'Riverdale' star, 48, rushed to help his 16-year-old son when an opponent slapped him multiple times and even ripped his headgear off.
The match took a wrong turn and became heated way too soon. When the referee did not make a call, Consuelos thought it was best to take action on his own. While the actor was escorted away from the wrestling mat, his son, Joaquin, lost the match. Amid all the chaos, the crowd could be heard yelling at the two, saying, " What are they doing?" "no way, no way" and "What, are you crazy?"
A TMZ video captured the entire fiasco and in the clip, Mark can be seen rushing up to the ring and talking to the other boy. When he moves away, the actor attempts to follow him before someone got him off the mat. The person recording the video can be heard saying, "Hey, be cool, it's a f***ing high school wrestling match!"
Later, Joaquin decided to prepare for another match. While the two opponents kept the matter professional and even shook hands after the match, the other boy was declared as the winner. The result irked the actor from The CW series and he was not seen for multiple hours before he finally cooled down.
The 'Riverdale' actor who plays Hiram Lodge, Veronica's father in the series has not commented on the incident so far. Apparently, he is quite a fitness enthusiast as his co-star KJ Apa shared a clip of his abs earlier this year.
Joaquin is the youngest of his children who he shares with actress and television host Kelly Ripa and reportedly, his wife was also present at the sporting event. The two are also parents to Michael, 22, and daughter Lola, 18.
