Marjorie Taylor Greene labeled a 'suck up' for posing with Mike Johnson as he's elected House Speaker

Mike Johnson was elected as House Speaker with 220 votes as Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed her joy

WASHINGTON, DC: The race for Speakership has come to an end as Rep. Mike Johnson has secured the speaker's gavel with 220 votes as opposed to Hakeem Jeffries's 209 votes, as reported by CNN.

As Johnson takes over the role, previously held by former GOP House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has shared a selfie with the Speaker, which has stunned people on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Only moments before the Speaker was announced, Greene also announced on social media that she voted for Johnson. Prior to this, the Congresswoman had shown her support for Rep. Jim Jordan but has now congratulated Johnson for his new position.

On X, prior to the announcement of Mike Johnson as Speaker of the House, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote, “I just voted for Mike Johnson to be our next Speaker of the House!”

She added, “Mike has a conservative voting record and has committed to helping me move important legislation forward, like my Protect Children’s Innocence Act, to end the genital mutilation of kids. Let’s get to work!”

Greene also shared a clip of ‘The Benny Show’ where expressed that she was “excited to support Mike Johnson.”

As soon as the Speaker was announced, aka Johnson, Greene shared a selfie with him, and wrote, “Congratulations to our new Speaker of the House @RepMikeJohnson!! 🇺🇸”

Greene also shared a video of "Speaker of the House Mike Johnson" written on a plaque at the U.S Capitol. 

Green wrote, "We have a Speaker. It’s time to work for the American People and stop the Democrat destruction of our country."

Internet reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s support for Mike Johnson

Internet was quick to respond as Marjorie Taylor Greene congratulated Rep. Mike Johnson on his win as House Speaker, and people weren't impressed.

One person wrote, “Extremist congratulating another extremist. Democrats will take back the House in 2024.”

“You must not look at your selfies before you post them. You just hit send apparently,” wrote one user, and another said, “Give me a break.”

One user wrote, “No thanks to you Marge,” and another said, “🤡 show, enjoy the circus…”

People continued to express their disappointment as they mocked Greene, “Marjorie Traitor-Greene is such a disgusting suck-up.”
