WASHINGTON, DC: Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg's taxpayer-funded government salary will be slashed to just $1 following a bill introduced by Marjorie Taylor Greene and approved by the House on Tuesday, November 7, according to Fox News.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Greene referred to Buttigieg as “pothole Pete,” where she announced that her “amendment to fire Pete Buttigieg just passed the House.”

In a later post on X, Greene said, “My amendment to cut his salary to $1 is paying him too much.”

And while Greene continued to attack Buttigieg, the internet was not impressed by this amendment as the Congresswoman faced backlash on social media.

Marjorie Taylor Greene attacks ‘pothole’ Pete Buttigieg

On X, Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote on Tuesday, “🚨 BREAKING: I’m proud to announce my amendment to FIRE Pete Buttigieg just PASSED the House. Pothole Pete staged fake bike rides to the White House and used private planes funded by taxpayers to receive awards for the way certain people have sex.”

“American taxpayers should not be on the hook for paying for his lavish trips or his salary,” added Greene.

She uploaded a video of her appeal to the Speaker of the House, where she talks about reducing Pete Buttigieg’s salary to $1. She also claimed that Buttigieg has “failed to serve the American people.”

In a later post on X, Greene wrote, “Pete Buttigieg doesn’t serve the American people. It took him weeks to visit East Palestine after a toxic train derailment happened on his watch. My amendment to cut his salary to $1 is paying him too much.”

The Congresswoman continued, “Pete Buttigieg doesn’t do his job. It’s all about fake photo ops and taxpayer-funded private jet trip to accept LGBTQ awards for him. I’m happy my amendment passed, but he doesn’t deserve a single penny.”

Internet responds to Marjorie Taylor Greene's attack on Pete Buttigieg

Following Marjorie Taylor Greene’s introduction of the bill to slash Pete Buttigieg’s salary to $1, the internet was quick to respond.

One user wrote, “True or False? Marjorie Taylor Greene is unfit for office.”

“Oh look, Maj doing nothing, again,” wrote one user, and another said, “What a horrible, hateful individual you are.”

One person wrote on X, “I can't take any more of this. What's Pete done? I feel like I'm back in kindergarten,” and another said, “It's high time we start using a term that truly captures the essence of your work – clown.”

Greene continued to face backlash as one person wrote, “You're the most desperate member of Congress.”
