Marjorie Taylor Greene claims New York civil fraud trial is all about 'silencing' Donald Trump

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump finally took the stand on Monday, November 6, in the New York civil fraud trial against him, his business, and his family.

Judge Arthur Engoron clashed with Trump throughout the trial, also told his lawyer Chris Kise to “control your client” and threatened to have Trump removed as a witness, according to a report by CNN.

Several reporters also took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share live updates of the trial, including Political investigations reporter, Hugo Lowell, whose update on Engoron and Trump was shared by Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.

On X, Greene expressed her frustration towards the trial and claimed “It’s all about silencing Trump,” and also added that the former President “has done nothing wrong,” for which, the Congresswoman faced backlash.

Reporter Huge Lowell wrote on X, “NOW: Justice Engoron is clearly very frustrated with Trump — tells his lawyer Chris Kise to control his client as he testifies: ‘I beseech you to control him if you can. If you can’t, I will. I will excuse him and draw every negative inference that I can.’”

He also added, “Trump lawyer Alina Habba tells the judge that NYAG prosecutor should ask better questions if he wants more specific answers. Judge shouts at Habba to ‘sit down!’— Trump rails: ‘Very very unfair trial and I hope the public is watching.’”

To this, Greene responded, “It’s all about silencing Trump, destroying his free speech rights. They hate him so much and they just want him to never talk again. It’s also because the American people agree with Trump’s speech which is why he’s winning so big. And he’s done nothing wrong.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene faces backlash on social media

Following Marjorie Taylor Greene’s defense of Donald Trump on X amid the civil fraud trial, the internet did not hold back.

One user wrote, “Drama Queen! He's in a Court Room not in a schoolyard.”

“Interesting, interesting. Have you considered—and really sorry if you already had considered this—crying more?” mocked one user, and another said, “Weird take. He wasn't answering the questions.”

One user wrote on X, “In Court, you answer the questions being asked. This is not a political rally. But we know you're not one for following rules of Law and Courts,” and another simply called Greene a “loser.”

Greene continued to face backlash on the social media platform, “We hate him because he’s a traitor.  Same reason we hate you,” wrote one user.
