'End for Marcus Mariota': Atlanta Falcons quarterback slammed as 'worst passer in NFL history'

Marcus Mariota was sacked multiple times throughout the game and his poor performance is now being slammed on social media

FLOWERY BRANCH, GEORGIA: The Atlanta Falcons could not get going in the fourth quarter against the Carolina Panthers but a little ray of hope shone when Marcus Mariota hit KhaDarel Hodge on a 25-yard TD pass after a 97-yard drive. The Falcons could have gotten the ball back but they ended up turning it over in their own territory. Throughout Thursday night, November 10, Mariota was under immense pressure. He was sacked multiple times. His poor performance is now being slammed on social media. 

As the Falcons prepared to play division rival Carolina on Thursday night, Mariota's future was unknown. "When I was going into free agency, I kind of understood that if I got a chance to play again, it was really going to be probably my last shot," Mariota said, according to ESPN. "Most guys don't even really get a second shot."

Mariota seemed determined to play well before the match began. "To be able to not only keep this job and maybe have a future here was important to me, and I am glad it is here with these guys, with Coach Smith and this staff," Mariota said. "Because like I said from before, it was almost a point of, just like, redeeming myself from a previous stint that I wanted to come here and prove that I can do it."

Social media is now slamming Mariota for his poor performance, with one tweeting, "Marcus Mariota might be one of the worst passers in NFL history". One user said, "Marcus Mariota should serve PRISON TIME for that sh** there This isn’t even about the tank dawg That was just horrendous PRISON TIME". "Every time I turn the game on Marcus Mariota was getting sacked I swear," saod one user.

"Marcus Mariota is the closest thing the NFL has to a crackhead playing QB," one user said, while another wrote, "BOY GET MARCUS MARIOTA OFF MY F****** SCREEN I*M GOING TO LOSE IT". One user wrote, "Absolutely pathetic performance from the #Falcons, top to bottom, all three phases. Have to think this is the end for Marcus Mariota."
