'Manifest': Top 5 burning questions for episode 7 'S.N.A.F.U'

A boy, a missing bus, a new stranger, and some old relations, these are the things that will make and break the dynamics in episode 7.

'Manifest': Top 5 burning questions for episode 7 'S.N.A.F.U'

NBC's Jeff Rake-directed show 'Manifest' might have lost a tenth of its viewers after returning almost two weeks later with the sixth episode, but the show continues to throw up new mysteries with every episode, making it a slow-burn mythical mystery.

Starring Josh Dallas (as Ben), Jack Messina (as Cal), Melissa Roxburgh (as Michaela), JR Ramirez (as Jared), Athena Karkanis (as Grace), and Parveen Kaur (as Saanvi), the show follows the sudden disappearance of Montego Air Flight 828, which re-appears almost five years later with none of the passengers having aged a day.

The sixth episode, 'Off-Radar', revealed some of the most glaring secrets of the show, and how these developments alter the course of the characters who are now experiencing some kind of strange calling which is driving them to change things for the better.

However, all of this comes with a price. And it seems that sanity is the price that the characters are paying in exchange for the callings. The last episode saw Cal almost reaching a point of physical breakdown as he turns out to be clairsensitive, which enables him to feel surrounding energies and non-physical consciousnesses.

Cal feels the exact same trauma and fever when one of the 11 missing passengers, a Bulgarian man named Marko, becomes a victim to an experiment being conduct by an obscure group of individuals. As Ben sets out to locate these missing passengers, Michaela follows his instructions to track down a barn located beyond the city borders where clearly some suspicious activities ar taking place. However, eventually when Ben informs the NSA about the activities, for the first time the authority and the citizens realize that there might be a third party who is involved in the disappearance of the passengers and might know what actually happened on that plane five years ago.

With NBC dropping the promo of the seventh episode, 'S.N.A.F.U', and considering the stills from the episode, here are the top five burning questions that we have for the upcoming episode:

1. Where are the passengers and why?

When Vance finally arrived at the barn towards the end, in the sixth episode -- after a steamy argument with Ben -- he discovers that the barn was already been cleared of its occupants. Although his assistant initially suggests that Ben was only setting them up in order to distract them from their true course of investigation, Vance contradicted the doubt claiming that the barn has been cleared in the exact same way he would clear it up if he did not want people to know what was going on. It was already revealed that some strange experiments were going on inside the barn, and it was clearly not government-endorsed.

So where have they taken the passengers next? Are they going to continue experimenting on them? But why? What are these experiments leading to? Michaela had briefly found out that the buses which were carrying the passengers were sponsored by a company named Unified Dynamic Systems (which seems like a twisty wordplay for "it is all connected"), and she somewhat indicated that this very company might have a hand in the disappearance of the passengers, and the government might be aware of it due to its association with the company. So is it UDS that has taken the passengers? And if so, what are they trying to find out?

2. Will Ben and Saanvi find answers?

It is difficult to tell if the duo will find the right answers anytime soon, but what can be said for certain is that the plot progression -- from discovering marks on the passengers' heads to finding out about the missing bus -- has happened due to Ben and Saanvi's consistent dedication to their work.

However, their faith in their findings seemed to falter a little when Cal was suddenly struck by a high fever and consequent seizures. Ben's struggle to remove the root cause of Cal's illness will continue in the seventh episode, but this time both he and Saanvi might come in contact with someone who will probably have some concrete answers to their questions.

The promo trailer reveals Ben and Saanvi attending a seminar where they meet a woman who Ben claims might know something about the plane since she works for the same company which apparently is responsible for the disappearance of the 11 passengers.

The trailer reveals the woman, Fiona Clarke (played by Francesca Faridany), welcoming the arrival of Ben and Saanvi to her seminar, and she is clearly unsurprised with their doubts. Does she really know something about the plane? And will Ben and Saanvi find out the answers that Fiona already knows?

3. What more is waiting, Cal?

Cal almost came back from death in the last episode, but it wasn't because Ben and Michaela had solved the case permanently. Cal's fever went down, and his seizures stopped the moment Marko was taken off the experiment. However, that is only temporary. Being a Clairsensitive, Cal can feel other people's pain almost like his own, he can see things before they happen, and in the promo trailer, he revealed to Ben that something bad is about to happen. Although Ben physically has been protecting Cal from any kind of danger, he has been unable to keep Cal from venturing into other people's minds.

Cal seems to know that they are not safe any longer, and the mystery surrounding the plane - as it intensifies - is causing some harmful damage to him. Already suffering from leukemia, there is no way Cal can seek an alternative treatment, which basically means that he will have to bear the pain that his powers are inflicting upon him.

But what more will he discover? Will Cal be the first one to discover what happened on the plane, just the way he was the first one to discover the calling? Or is he actually the passive victim of the mythical mishaps which are hovering over every passenger ever since they returned?

4. Are Grace and Danny getting back together?

Fans have already declared that Grace should leave Ben and go along with Danny, as they think that she no longer loves Ben. However, Grace reached her breaking point in episode 6 when she was suddenly left alone at the hospital by Ben, who went to the NSA headquarters to inform about the 11 missing passengers. Grace was not in a position to understand Ben's confession about his ability to see and hear things. All she wanted was Cal to get better and go home. Probably that is why when Ben leaves, she asks Saanvi to leave Ben out of all the research that they are doing to find out more about the mystery of the plane.

Some of the images released by NBC reveal Danny has returned, and once again he stands face-to-face with Ben, who is clearly not enthused by his presence around his wife or his daughter. However, this time things might be a little different as the images show Ben to be a little more accepting of Danny's presence. Will Grace truly leave Ben for Danny, and will Ben be able to let her go? Which of the two children will stay back with the father? (Probably Cal). Whatever decision Grace takes, hopefully, it will be to her benefit as she has already been subjected to a plethora of changes that she never wanted to be a part of.

5. What about Michaela and Jared?

Honestly, we don't know! Fans have already begun claiming that the past lovers should get back together because they are clearly still in love. In episode 6, Jared took up the daunting task of accompanying Michaela to the barn where the experiments were taking place in spite of knowing well that once Vance gets to know about it, he could lose his job. In the fifth episode, he had taken up the responsibility of a mistake committed by Michaela but did not inform his wife, Lourdes, about it. As for Michaela, she was prepared to say yes to Jared's proposal for marriage but kept it to herself when she found out that he had got married to her best friend.

The duo has been working together ever since they got back to work. Although Jared has his fair share of doubt regarding Michaela's instinctive impulse to solve crimes, he nevertheless follows her in all her quests. He is prepared to fight any kind of battle to keep her safe but fails terribly when it comes to confessing his true feelings for her. Probably with the seventh episode, we will see these two bonding better, and hopefully, by the end of the season finale, they will get back together. But the question still remains, how? And what about Lourdes who seems to be the third wheel in spite of being Jared's wife?
