EXCLUSIVE | 'Manifest' star Parveen Kaur would like to 'step away from sci-fi for a bit' to try comedy or drama
'Manifest' has been springing a set of new surprises for its fans every week as new episodes roll out. This week, the show went through a tumultuous turn after the shocking death of a beloved character. Delving deeper into the storyline of the show, actress Parveen Kaur caught up with MEAWW (MEA WorldWide) reporter Alana Jordan on the red carpet for the Beverly Hills Dog Show.
The 31-year-old, who stars as Saanvi Bahl, spoke at length about how she prepares for her role on 'Manifest' and how the chemistry the cast has on the show carries over to real life as well. She also said that while she loves working in the sci-fi genre and on incredible shows like 'The Strain' and 'Manifest,' she would like to "step away from sci-fi for a bit" and try out some other genres.
When asked how she prepares for the role, Parveen said, "Everyone's got a job to do. We all go to work and when you really enjoy what you do for a living, you go to make the best product or do the best that you can because it's so fulfilling. A lot of actors have a different process but I like to prepare on my own when I get to set."
She added, "It's a collaboration and we are very lucky to work in this industry because it's not just a one-person show. So, yes, we have different ways to prepare but all comes down to staying focussed and making the best product because our fans love the show."
The chemistry of the cast is incredible and it translates on screen. Are all of them friends off-screen as well? "100 percent," Parveen said, adding, "We hang out all the time. It's so much fun. We are friends and it's great. I feel very lucky because this is my first show and the experience has been very communal. We all had to go to New York together and as big and busy it can be, it can also be very isolating, especially when you're new. And we all kind of hung to one another."
She also added that it was super "fun" going back to season two.
Parveen also confessed that if given the chance, she would like to "step away from sci-fi for a bit" and give a chance to "some comedy" or "drama." But at the same time, she is grateful to have worked on such cool sci-fi shows and would be open to such roles in the future too.
New episodes of 'Manifest' airs every Monday on NBC at 10 pm ET.
