Manchester United vs Chelsea: Intense banter engulfs Internet ahead of marquee clash between Red Devils and Blues

Billed as the mouth-watering clash of the weekend, both sides head into the game on Saturday with different results. United come off a win against PSG, while Chelsea salvaged a draw against Sevilla respectively in their Champions League games

Soccer fans are set to have a blast on Saturday, October 24th. Manchester United and Chelsea face-off against each other, while Barcelona is set to lock horns with Real Madrid. The focus though is on the marquee clash between the Red Devils and the Blues that kick-offs this weekend's slate of games.

Billed as the mouth-watering clash of the weekend, both sides head into the game on Saturday with different results. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's United seem to have rediscovered the mojo of the old with back-to-back wins against Newcastle and most recently a 2-1 win against French giants, Paris Saint-Germain. Chelsea is placed eighth on the points table has had a sine-wave like a start and is coming off a draw against Sevilla.

Twitter was buzzing ahead of the game with fans from either camp rooting for their sides. Adding to that was that fanbase that operated in a grey area that just hoped for a solid game of football. "Good morning... Weekend is here. Matchaday, Manchester united vs Chelsea. All the best the pride of London. #MUNCHE" read one of the tweets.

Chelsea fans had a bold statement to make. "Clear Fact: Chelsea is wining today. Have a beautiful weekend y'all. #MUNCHE," a fan commented.

Trust the United fans to not be far behind. One of the fans hoped for a Cavani special. "Home game  Match day  Chelsea  OT  EPL as much as I was against Cavani joining #MUFC, i'm really excited to see what he brings, 90 or 10 minutes I hope he makes a statement for Martial, competition is good look at De Gea since Henderson came back! #MUNCHE," the tweet read.

Advice poured in for the Blues. "Lampard should organise the defence, make it water tight. Our attack is decent they can pull something out of blues #MUNCHE" 

In the 56 times, both sides have squared-off against each other, Frank Lampard's men have narrowly edged the hosts 18-17 while the rest have ended in stalemates. For the Blues, a win helps them break into the top five, while United will be hoping to make it to the top 10 with a win. "Slow motion makes it beautiful!!!
