Man with vegetable fetish sexually assaults partner with carrot causing her death, faces life imprisonment
A man is reportedly facing life in prison after he allegedly assaulted his partner with a carrot grown in their back garden in Romania.
The man, identified as 55-year-old Calin Laurentiu, said he was engaged in a sex act with his 59-year-old partner and the vegetable at their home in Dambovita County, southern Romania when the woman fell unconscious.
Laurentiu is reported to have a vegetable fetish.
The victim, who has not been identified, reportedly initially agreed for the carrot to be used during the act but then later asked him to stop, according to reports.
She eventually died of sepsis when her body responded to an infection caused by the vegetable piercing her colon.
Laurentiu, who called for an ambulance, soon realized that his partner was dead. He has now been accused of rape and murder.
The accused, while speaking about what unfolded during the incident, said: "After it occurred to me that she had died, I dressed her nicely in pyjamas."
"I called for an ambulance initially, but then I realised it was no longer worth it. I hurt her, but I didn't torture her with carrots. She told me to leave her alone at some point, but I went on," he said.
"I'm sorry about her death, I didn't mean to kill her. I loved her and she loved me. I'll confess everything to the police and to the lawyer," the Daily Mail reported.
The woman's death was reportedly caused by a colon perforation, leading to sepsis after the perforation became infected.
Sepsis can lead to multiple organ failure and death.
A spokesperson for the local prosecutor's office, Camelia Matei, while speaking to reporters, said: "'A criminal case was filed for rape and murder. According to our preliminary investigation, it seems that the woman's death was due to sexual assault."
The investigation in the case is currently ongoing, however, if found guilty, Laurentiu will reportedly spend the rest of his life in prison.
