Crack cocaine addict who murdered seven-month pregnant girlfriend with scissors sentenced to 26 years in prison
A crack cocaine addict who threatened to eat his pregnant girlfriend before then stabbing her to death with a pair of scissors has been sentenced to 26 years in prison. The 44-year-old, Ioan Campeanu, a Romanian national, was found guilty in the murder of 28-year-old Romanian immigrant Andra Hilitanu and their unborn child at their home in Neasden, Northwest London, last month, with the judge not holding back while delivering the sentence.
Addressing the fact that Campeanu could have saved Hilitanu if he had called emergency services earlier — he reportedly waited two hours and went out on a drive after the attack before notifying authorities — the judge said, "You have never shown any remorse for what happened that night to Ms. Hilitanu and your unborn child."
