Man arrested for attempting to abduct 9-year-old girl from Universal Orlando's Harry Potter area
Jason Mikel, from Illinois, was booked for multiple charges including attempted kidnapping after he tried to abduct a girl at the theme park
An Illinois man accused of attempting to abduct a 9-year-old girl from Universal Orlando’s Harry Potter area was detained after tripping over in front of the Hogwarts Express and subsequently booked into Orange County jail. After the incident on Saturday at the theme park, 23-year-old Jason Mikel, of Minooka, faces charges of attempted kidnapping of a child under 13, battery and misdemeanor marijuana possession.
While being interviewed by the Orlando police, the girl said she was in the Forbidden Journey ride's locker area when a man “touched her on her shoulders and told her to go outside and that her mother was outside," according to the charging affidavit.
