DEERFIELD BEACH, FLORIDA: Browns defensive tackle Malik McDowell was arrested in Florida on Monday, January 17, on charges of public exposure and assaulting a deputy. In a video of his arrest, the NFL player can be seen completely naked.

A video of the arrest has been arrested by TMZ. In the clip, he can be seen on the ground, handcuffed, while nearly half a dozen officers surround him. Malik can be seen resisting his position at one point, following which an officer kicks him to keep him down. Malik was reportedly arrested in Deerfield Beach.

Malik was reportedly walking naked near a student learning center. He then entered the property naked. The deputy had to use his taser and handcuff Malik after the NFL player charged at him. “Apparently somebody may have slipped him something or given him something he was unaware of, which explains some of his bizarre behavior,” Malik's defense attorney said.

Malik was under contract with the Browns for only one season. They released a statement on the incident, saying they were looking into the arrest. “We are aware of the very concerning incident and arrest involving Malik McDowell and are in the process of gathering more information,” the statement read. “We understand the severity of this matter and our thoughts are for the well-being of all involved. We will have no further comment at this time.”

This is not the first time Malik has been arrested. He was charged with DUI in Michigan and disorderly conduct in Atlanta after an incident at a nightclub back in 2017. In 2019, Malik was arrested for operating a vehicle in an intoxicated state and even spent 66 days in jail. He was also arrested for resisting arrest in July 2019. After the recent incident, Malik was charged with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer, exposing himself in public and resisting arrest.

Malik is known for being a second-round pick of the Seahawks in 2017. However, due to his arrests and some injuries that he suffered, had not appeared in an NFL game until this season with the Browns. The Browns signed him in May. Malik appeared in 15 games this season. He recorded three sacks and 19 solo tackles. He is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
