'Making It' Season 2 finale: Winner Justine Silva walks home with $100,000 grand prize and fans are happy
'Making It' season 2 finale episode had everything going for it. Be it the massive party set-up crafts or the beautiful invites, the master crafters - Lilly Jimenez, Justine Silva, Jessie Bearden - went all-out for both the rounds. Hosts Nick Offerman and Amy Poehler were particularly pleased with the way they introduced subtle elements to their projects that represent their area of expertise.
The master craft had the makers create unconventional party invites. They were tested on how unique and functional they could get with it.
Justine, who won a patch for her impressive attempt, went for a record invite, which was dedicated to her dad and meant to be used for his pre-retirement party. What was interesting was that the invite doubled up as a record holder as well, and that's what got her on the good side of the judges - Dayna Isom Johnson and Simon Doonan.
Meanwhile, Lilly went for a soft pink, tender invite that would be used for her daughter's party, celebrating her transition into the 'big girl room.' Jessie worked up a congratulatory invite for her two friends who helped her get herself together when she was losing track. It was a fire-flame kind of an invite, which sort of fell short of the spark that the other two exhibited.
Next up, was the bigger challenge of creating a photo booth along with a complementing table where all the food from the party would sit. Justine stuck to her theme, right down to the color and put together a booth that had drum symbals perched on gold spray-painted sticks for a backdrop and a musical note chart for the table. Impressive, right?
Lilly knew she had to add her balloon art to the final project, and so she did. Her photo booth had balloons for clouds and cotton to give it a close-to-real touch. Since her invite had a full-fledged bed in it, the food table too was designed around it. A cute, fluffy bed with styrofoam macaroons. Totally Instagrammable!
Jessie's work was extremely personal. Her backdrop tracked her and her friends'journey together to New York City. She even installed a bunch of pop hands here and there that were made using casting mould kits.
At the end of it all, Justine walked away with the $100,000 prize and a proud tag that of a ''master maker.'' What's interesting is, even though viewers had their own favorites from the show, everyone seems to like what Justine had to offer and want a season 3, real quick. ''Okay, I’m sorry, what? I love Justine but uh Jessie’s was literally the best thing I’ve ever seen. HOW #MakingIt'' said a fan who was dismayed with the results. But another praised Justine for her win saying: "Seeing all of justine’s patches on her apron at this point is everhthing - she came so far since the first challenge and im so excited for her #MakingIt''. More fans seemed to be happy with the show's winner as a tweet said: ''I watched a total of an episode and a half of this show and I was completely invested in Justine winning. #MakingIt''
