Majority of Clemson Tiger's black players opted out of Trump's fast food feast 'McCookout' in White House

Although majority of the 119-member team attended the event earlier this month, multiple players, said that only 15 of the 57 black student-athletes on the team attended it
UPDATED JAN 30, 2019

A majority of black football players on Clemson Tiger's national championship team opted out of visiting the White House this month for President Donald Trump's infamous 'McCookout' where the Republican laid out an array of fast food for the players to feast on. Reports state that most black players cited "racism" and "divisive politics" as reasons to skip the invitation.

One black player from the team, who spoke anonymously to The Root, said: "It wasn’t like we had a team meeting or anything." The player added: "Players were talking amongst each other. 'I’m not going to that'."
