'MAFS' Season 16: Fans slam experts for matching Kirsten and Shaquille, call it 'disaster on the horizon'

Shaquille and Kirsten both admit that while they are prepared to be pushed out of their comfort zones, their ultimate objective is to settle down and have children

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE: In Season 16 of 'Married At First Sight,' we meet Kirsten Grimes and Shaquille Dillon, who meet for the first time at the altar before marrying and embarking on an all-expenses-paid honeymoon. However, based on their individual introductions and admissions about what they want in a marriage, fans are afraid that this couple is doomed from the start.

Kirsten, 32, is a strong lady who will not accept anything less. She wants a godly man who isn't afraid of her achievements. Kirsten has high standards for her spouse and describes herself as "picky." "I want someone who is as educated as I am and as good-looking as I am," Kirsten adds. "I want him to come to church with me."

Kirsten will marry Shaquille, who is 31 years old. Shaquille is prepared to marry and feels that family, faith, support, and education are all important. He's presently pursuing his PhD, which ticks off Kirsten's education box. "I think God has put me on this planet to do a lot," Shaquille added.

Kirsten is the first to tell her family that she'll be marrying a stranger in two weeks, and the well-educated real estate agent explains she's been fussy about men in the past, but she's ready to settle down. Kirsten's mother is hoping that she will find love as a result of this experience. Meanwhile, her future husband Shaquille informs his friends about his upcoming wedding and adds that following a life-changing car accident as a child, every step has led him to this moment.

The men and women meet individually to discuss their big day ahead, getting a taste of what the experiment would be like. Shaquille and Kirsten establish how important appearances are to them throughout their individual meetings. Shaquille and Kirsten both admit that while they are prepared to be pushed out of their comfort zones, their ultimate objective is to settle down and have children.

Kirsten and Shaquille go dress and tux shopping with friends and family, as is customary for wedding day attire. After putting on a few gowns, Kirsten's friends and mother can't help but fall in love with her chosen gown, which has a flapper influence. Meanwhile, Shaquille gets a couple of his students to join in on the fun by guiding him to a dark green tux instead of a standard black tux.

As their wedding day approaches, Shaquille and Kristen begin preparing for their big day. "I never thought that I would get married to a stranger, but here I am," Kirsten says. "I am excited, but I'm also nervous. I know, it's the craziest thing, but I'm very particular and picky. I put it all in the experts' hands - I hope that the chemistry is there. I pray that I like him a lot."

While a conversation with friends causes him to become sad, Shaquille is calmed by their presence as well as his grandma, who gives him a great embrace before he ultimately walks down to the altar to await his future bride. Kirsten is worried when she can't reach her mother, who isn't answering her phone. Kirsten is upset that her father has chosen not to attend because he does not want to follow Covid regulations, and the prospect that her side of the wedding may exclude both her parents is frightening, but happily her mother arrives when the hair and cosmetics are being done. We see Kirsten grasp her brother's arm as he prepares to accompany her down the aisle as she and her bridesmaids make their way to the wedding venue.

Both Kirsten and Shaquille are apprehensive as she prepares to go down the aisle to Shaquille. "He's waiting for you girl, he's going to be waiting at the end of the aisle for you," Kirsten's pal adds. "If this is not the man I was expecting, I'll be disappointed," Kirsten admits. She previously stated to her friends that if she does not find her new husband attractive, she will have him kiss her on the cheek at the altar. Despite the fact that the episode ended on a cliffhanger, a preview of the upcoming episode showed Shaquille kissing Kirsten on the cheek at the altar.

Unhappy with the mismatch, a viewer tweeted, "Yoooo they’re really about to marry beautiful Kristen to this man whose family has repeatedly dropped hints that he wanted a Kevin all along." Predicting what could be the reasons for the couple's doom, another person tweeted, "My predictions for Kristen & Shaquille: 1. She won’t be attracted. 2. She won’t be attracted. 3. She’s going to chew him up and spit him out like - Jasmina 2023. 4. They won’t make it." Another person seconded that thought saying, "That girl is not going to feel Shaquille…she’s divorcing dude and getting her a Tenn Titan by the end of 2023." Further slamming the experts for the mismatch, a viewer wrote, "The experts get on my damn nerves, clearly they seen Kirsten was gorgeous and wanted her husband to clearly be attractive, and they matched her with sugar ass Shaquille."

One viewer feeling bad for the groom-to-be tweeted, "Lawd! Kirsten is too specific. I already feel sorry for Shaquille." Another viewer tweeted, "Call it a hunch, but I can already see disaster on the horizon for Shaquille and Kirsten. Her expectations are waaaay up there. I think he should of been paired with Jasmine. I hope I’m wrong, though." Hoping for the couple to work out, a fan wrote, "i really hope kristin gives shaquille a chance he seems really amazing if she can put her long list aside i think they can be a phenomenal couple." There are also many speculations regarding Shaquille's sexuality, as many write, "Watching #MAFS. Kristin is so gorgeous. But maaaan, they were wrong for hooking her up with Shaquille. I absolutely do NOT believe he’s straight. Ain’t no way. Please no spoilers yall. I’m MAYBE 30 min in."
