Electronic music producer Machinedrum, whose real name is Travis Stewart, is all set to drop his ninth solo album titled ‘A View of U’. The new LP is a follow-up to his 2016 project ‘Human Energy’. The LA-based producer had first announced his new record on August 5, 2020, via his official Twitter account. In order to promote his album, Machinedrum also dropped two singles from his new record titled, ‘Kane Train’ featuring Freddie Gibbs and ‘Ur2yung’ on the same day.

His official tweet read, “‘Kane Train’ w/ @freddiegibbs & 'Ur2yung’ is out on @ninjatune. It’s the 1st double single from my forthcoming album ‘A View of U’. https://machinedrum.lnk.to/avouAT  As always, I am forever grateful for your support in this sonic journey. Love from California."

Release date

Machinedrum’s ‘A View of U’ will hit the Internet on Friday, October 9, 2020, via Ninja Tune.

Concept

The ‘U’ in the album’s name ‘A View of ‘U’ represents the Universe or the Infinite and is based on this concept of having an out of body experience (OOBE). According to Bandcamp, Travis Stewart shed some light on the concept and said, “The feeling of being out of your body feels infinite. It feels like time has stopped. It feels like the birth of creation. It feels like the impossible becomes possible. It feels unfamiliar and familiar at the same time. It feels scary at first but once you let go of that fear and surrender to the experience it feels incredibly beautiful and life-changing.”

He further explained, “When I am in the creative zone I tend to forget time, who I am and where I am as I became aware of my OOBE through song creation, choosing what songs should go on an album as well as through my meditation, I realized that this was meant to be the central theme of the album.”
