Spoiler alert for Season 4 Episode 5 'Soccer + Desi + Merchant + Titan'

After spending all this time reacting to Codex's attacks, the Phoenix Foundation is finally ready to go on the offensive in 'MacGyver' Season 4 Episode 5 and in the process, we get some really major moments. There's good news and bad news and a cliffhanger at the very end but we'll get to that.

The episode itself was a fun watch with a very James Bond-esque feel to the whole thing, what with Angus "Mac" MacGyver (Lucas Till) and the rest of the team engaging in some high stakes gambling and the villain of the week, the elusive Merchant (James Callis), giving off very strong Number 1 vibes.

Merchant isn't the number one in the organization though and that's where the cliffhanger comes in. Turns out the head of Codex, codenamed Titan, is actually Phoenix's very own Matty Weber (Meredith Eaton).

Right now, we don't know if Matty's been framed or if she is a traitor. We do hope she is acquitted and the real Titan is revealed to be someone else but we'll just have to wait and see.

As for the good news, MacGyver and Desi Nguyen (Levy Tran) finally kiss and make up, after spending all season bickering. Does that mean they'll stop snapping at each other at the slightest provocation? Probably not, but at least that arc has been more or less resolved.

The episode had some great acting across the board, especially from Callis whose performance as Merchant was top-notch. By the end of the episode, it appears Merchant may have been murdered but Callis was so much fun on the show, we'd love to see him return at some point.

Another notable performance came from Jade Albany who was quite endearing as Gabriella Dispaltro, the soccer player whom Merchant has been blackmailing into throwing games for him. All in all, this was a fun episode that managed to entertain while also unloading some major bombs and we can't wait to see where the story goes.

'MacGyver' Season 4 airs Fridays at 8/7 c exclusively on CBS.
