Spoilers for 'MacGyver' Season 5
Season 5 Episode 8 titled 'SOS + Hazmat + Ultrasound + Frequency + Malihini' which airs on Friday, February 12, will see Matty's former mentor, Ian Cain (Robert Patrick) and his embassy staff come down with a deadly, mysterious illness and Mac and the team rush to help. Also, Taylor and Bozer work with Jerry Ortega ('Hawaii Five-0's' Jorge Garcia) to infiltrate a Codex cell.
Codex is back in full force it seems and while we can't give too much away about what happens in Episode 8 of this season, we can tell you that next week, the Codex drama does continue.

The episode is titled 'Rails + Pitons + Pulley + Pipe + Salt' and will premiere on Friday, February 19, 2021, at 8 pm EST on CBS. The official synopsis of the episode reads, "When Mac and the team are unable to prevent Department of Defense intel from falling into Codex's hands, Mac must scale a vertical cliff using only gear he can cobble together himself to prevent the info's transmission."
Who are the guest stars in 'Rails + Pitons + Pulley + Pipe + Salt'?
The guest stars are Brandon Quinn as Jace Olson, Rob Rowland as Finch, Chris Lindsay as Lieutenant and Roger Cross as Conor. The episode is written by Rob Pearlstein and is directed by Christine Moore.
