French professional football club Olympique Lyonnais and German professional football club FC Bayern München are all set to lock horns in the second semi-final game of the UEFA Champions League semifinals. The league was halted in mid-March after the coronavirus outbreak but the European competition is back with the best football teams from across the continent playing behind doors with no fans in the stadiums.

The two teams will play against each other for the ninth time and the German side has recorded four wins in the last eight matches. Lyon has won two, with a pair of draws. Coincidentally, the last time they played against each other was in the Champions League semi-finals 2009-2010, with Bayern winning it with a score of 4-0.

Pre-buzz

Both teams have a strong chance to win but Bayern is the preferred team against Lyon. According to a UEFA report, Bayern coach Hans-Dieter Flick said, "Those who know me do not need to be reminded that I refuse to live in the past. Of course, we were happy about the result against Barcelona. But we still have plans and we all know how quickly things can happen in football. We need to look ahead, collect energy and then things start at 0-0. We have enough experienced players in our team who understand this, but we are still preparing in the best possible way. There are still things we need to improve."

However, with the unpredictable outcomes this season, Lyon may put up a strong defensive side and may clinch the spot in the finale.

Who will win?

Bayern is the tournament favorite and the team has not recorded a single defeat in the 24 competitive matches played in 2020. Going by what happened back in 2010, there's a strong chance Bayern might clinch the spot in the finals again, but only time will tell what really happens. Who do you think will win?
