'Lovestruck in the City' Episode 8 Spoilers: Will Jae-won and Eun-o have a happy ending in Kakao web series?
What would it feel like to fall head over heels in love with someone who you believe is made just for you, find those feelings of love reciprocated only to suddenly be dumped without a word? That is exactly what the lead character of 'Lovestruck in the City' — Jae-won (Jii Chang-wook) — feels like. He had fallen in love with a free-spirited woman called Yoon Seon-ah (Kim Ji-won) during a surfing trip and the moments that connected the two of them had been surreal and almost as if they could only exist in the pages of a fairytale. At a moment's notice, however, Jae-won loses it all.
While still on the trip, he even married Seon-ah. To outsiders, it might have seemed like the two of them were not serious and just playing house, but both Seon-ah and Jae-won realize that the feelings that they continue to feel for each other even today are as serious as it can be. However, there is something about Seon-ah that Jae-won did not know. She was living the life of an 'alias' on that island.
She was not Seon-ah but Lee Eun-o. A girl who had feared a lot of things and had been timid. Yet, she embarked on a journey during which time she promised to herself that she won't let her fears hold her back. Falling in love with Jae-won had been a part of this plan. To not fear or be intimidated by the wave of emotions that Jae-won brought in her but to revel in it. However, can she come clean and confess about Seon-ah being an alias that she had used to build up the courage?
Until now, that is what has really stopped her from telling Jae-won the truth. Even when she realized that she was as much in love with him as he was with her, the thing that had stopped her from opening up to Jae-won was his statement about how any change in Seon-ah's behavior would make her a different person. Not a person that Jae-won had fallen in love with. However, when Jae-won had to unexpectedly cut his surfing trip short and even go to the extent of catching a quick flight to Seoul for work, he had not expected to never see Seon-ah again.
He had truly believed that he would be meeting her as planned in Seoul, but never in his life had he imagined that he would be dumped at the last moment. Now, more than getting his relationship back, what he really wants to know is why Seon-ah aka Eun-o had made this drastic call and upon knowing the truth, would Jae-won accept her for who she is? If he doesn't, then there isn't a point to the exercise of taking part in the documentary. With feelings that were buried deep surfacing in Episode 8, we wonder about the fate of the former lovers and how all of it would pan out in the four episodes that are remaining.
'Lovestruck in the City' originally airs on Kakao TV on Tuesdays and Fridays and can be streamed on Netflix in the US.
