'Love, Victor' follows the journey of Victor, a highschool sophomore kid who has recently transferred to Creekwood high as he learns about himself, his sexuality and everything that comes with the possibility of him being gay. In the beginning, Victor is confused and he does his best to find out what he is really. His friendship with Mia grows into a serious relationship and this throws a wrench in Victor's original plan to explore his sexuality without any obstacle in a new city at a new school.

The more he is with Mia, the more confused Victor is about why he must be gay. After all, isn't it easier to stay normal and make everyone around him happy instead of exploring the possibility that he is gay and losing important people in his life? That is the idea that Victor initially explores before he comes to the conclusion that being gay is not something that he could push under the rug and stay ignorant for the rest of his life. All of this and the help that he gets from his new highschool's alum Simon Spier and Bram gives Victor the strength to push forward with the idea of living as an openly gay boy.

This doesn't mean that Victor has a dramatic coming out moment in front of all the people in his life. He first comes out to his best friend Felix who by now has become a fixture in Victor and his family's life. Felix has no words for Victor's confession and so he tells his friend that he has no perfect words to offer, but the fact that nothing changes between them because of Victor's truth. His support gives Victor the confidence to consider coming out to Mia, and he even plans a quiet night with Mia to tell her the truth.

Victor loves Mia but is not in love with her and this is also what stops him at the last moment from confessing to Mia. He wants Mia to have one perfect night before he crashes her world that is already fractured from learning that her father is going to get remarried to Veronica (Sophia Bush), a woman that he recently fell in love with, who is also pregnant. However, all of this fails when Victor's sister Pilar (Isabella Ferreira) finds a letter in Victor's pocket written to someone with initials 'B'. The letter also reveals that he has kissed this 'B' and this angers Pilar who is already dealing with her mother having cheated on her father.

Victor and Mia in 'Love, Victor' (Hulu)

She is on a quest to find the truth about who Victor cheated Mia with, and not knowing that he is gay and had kissed Benjamin, she approaches Benjamin to ask him about this. Benjamin's boyfriend Derek, as a result, has a huge fight with the guy for hiding the truth from him. When Victor sees all of this unraveling over his first high school winter formals, he decides to run interference between Derek and Benjamin, and once that is done he waits for the night to get over so that he can confess the truth to Mia.

However, when Benjamin approaches Victor and tells him that he needs someone more like Victor in his life than Derek, everything goes to hell in a handbasket. Mia ends up coming across Victor and Benjamin sharing a passionate kiss and is heartbroken after the betrayal. Despite Victor attempting to explain the situation to her, she is in no state to give him a chance and on top of that, he finds his sister calling him a cheater who cannot be trusted. All of this pushes Victor to come to the conclusion that coming out to his family would be for the best.

Before he could confess, however, his mother and father announce to Victor and Pilar that they are separating for a period to reevaluate their relationship. If it was the usual Victor, he would have clamped down on his need to tell his parents the truth, but this time, Victor doesn't and he tells them, "I am gay". With this shocking confession, the series ends and that leaves us with a burning question. How are Isabel and Armando, Victor's mother and father, going to react to this?

While Derek and Benjamin had earlier visited their home as a couple for Victor's birthday, Armando did not have a problem with the couple being gay. However, he did tell his son later that he wouldn't want his son Adrian, Victor's younger brother, playing with 'Frozen' merchandise to end up like "those boys". So we cannot definitely expect a warm reception of Victor's news from his father. His mother, on the other hand, did support her son for standing up for what he believes in, however, she is also extremely religious. So there's no telling where she stands in all of this either.

There is also Mia. For now, she may be heartbroken, however, she is an intelligent and warm girl who seems more likely to forgive Victor for his mistakes than his own father. However, the biggest question is about Benjamin. Now that he has shown interest in Victor, this opens up a lot of areas of trouble for the two of them. For starters, Benjamin has been out for a while not and goes through the entire phase of coming out to his parents, which he might not be interested in repeating considering where Victor is at.

Then there is also the fact that Victor is not out as gay yet. So, if in the future, Victor requires time to adapt to all the changes, Benjamin is going to find that hard because he won't be able to handle dating in secret. How will Victor face all of this and what will Victor's future look like? We definitely need a Season 2 to watch that unfold.

All episodes of 'Love, Victor' released on June 17 and can be streamed on Hulu.
