'Carmen is a massive game player': 'Love Island USA' fans slam Islander for using Bergie as 'stepping stone'

Previously, Carmen Kocourek who seemed like she was developing feelings towards Bergie, confessed her 'true' emotions

PACIFIC HARBOUR, FIJI: 'Love Island USA' Season 5's previous episode ended with a major cliffhanger leaving the viewers guessing who could leave the villa. However, the latest episode came with a more shocking surprise as Carmen Kocourek revealed her true feelings about Carsten 'Bergie' Bergersen.

The islanders are given the opportunity to cast ballots against the contestant they want to send home in order to keep the islander they prefer in the house. Most islanders voted in favor of Carmen, but several also cast ballots against Victor Gonzalez. Carmen, it seems, was spared, but the islanders were forced to question their choice.

Why did Carmen Kocourek friend zone Carsten 'Bergie' Bergersen?

'Love Island USA' Season 5 viewers have often noticed Carmen and Bergie spending time together getting to know each other. At one point, it also seemed like Carmen had started developing feelings towards Bergie. However, Carmen's feelings for Bergie changed soon after she was saved from elimination. Additionally, Carmen friend-zoned Bergie noting that how he handled the situation with Victor was not what she looking for in her partner. Carmen revealed, "The fact he knew he was kind of leading me into that conversation and then made this strong woman comment." She added, "Like, I was going to go fight this battle was a bit like I don't know if I want a partner that's gonna like but instead of being direct." Carmen further noted, "He almost used Victor as an excuse. He was like Victor said you said it again." However, after she got saved, Carmen said asked Bergoie, "Hey Bergie, we're friends right? I’d hate to lose you as my best friend in the Villa."

'Carmen is a BIGTIME game player'

After Carmen friend-zoned Bergie, the viewers dubbed her a 'game player'. A social media user tweeted, "Carmen friendzoning Bergie as soon as she safe wow shocker." Another Twitter user wrote, "Carmen from the jump really didn't care about Bergie. We all got played." Another viewer noted, "Hannah is so real for clocking Carmen’s switch tbh Carmen is a BIGTIME game player." "Hahahahaha Carmen played y’all to the T! Victor and the audience got played! Told y’all she wasn’t into bergie like that, she’s a game player. Victor I am sorry 😂😂😂😂," added another person. Another user said, "Everyone calling Carmen a game player…unfortunately you were right." Another critic stated, "Carmen is a massive game player😭😭 She using Bergie as a stepping stone until someone better comes in and her being in the bottom about to get home probably pissed her off even more so she’s bout to switch up."

'Love Island USA' Season 5 premiered on Peacock on Tuesday, July 18, 2023. During premiere week, new episodes will be available to stream every day at 9 pm ET. Subsequently, new episodes will be released on Thursdays through Tuesdays on Peacock.
