LOUISIANA: A junior-high teacher and a sheriff's deputy who had allegedly sexually abused a child together were arrested in Louisiana this week.

Cynthia Perkins, 34, and her husband, Dennis Perkins, 44, were charged with child rape and pornography charges. As reported by Fox, investigators discovered pictures of them nude together with a child. As per the report, Dennis was immediately fired from his job in the Livingston Parish Sherriff’s Office while his wife was suspended from teaching.

The law enforcement agency released a statement where they said, "It is a sad day for us, for all law enforcement officers, when you arrest one of your own. We at the LPSO work hard every day to retain the trust placed in us by our citizens, but as I have said in the past, no one is above the law." The couple was busted after police were tipped off by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry also released a statement, saying, "Protecting Louisiana children is one of my top priorities. So my office and I will continue to do all we can to find and arrest child predators". The husband and wife duo was charged with 60 counts of production of pornography involving a child under 13 in addition to rape charges.

Dennis Perkins was also charged with obstructing justice as he allegedly tossed his phone into a river upon realizing that investigators were looking to arrest him when he was on a fishing trip.

As reported by The Advocate of Baton Rouge, Dennis was transferred to a detention center in Livington Parish with a bond of 1.6 million. He was eventually transferred to the Ascension Parish Jail. His wife Cynthia was held on a $500,000 bond. The number of victims that the couple could have had is currently not known.
