Lakers vs Nuggets: Jamal Murray sizzles in Denver win, fans say 'he went full Steph Curry right there'

It was a Jamal Murray masterclass in Game 3 of the Western Conference finals between the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nuggets riding on some awe-inspiring performances from Murray, Nikola Jokic and Jerami Grant, sealed a 114-106 win on Tuesday, September 22. Murray was the star with 28 points after they almost blew a 29-point lead. With this win, Denver will look at evening up the series in Game 4.
And Twitter was abuzz with fans dissecting the game and one of the talking points was Murray's style of play that saw him being compared to the immensely talented Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. "Jamal Curry" was one of the tweets doing the rounds post the game. Here's a look at some of the reactions to Murray's magnificent effort.
For starters, here are some numbers that help compare the two better. "It's not crazy to compare 2014 Steph Curry to 2020 Jamal Murray, here are their playoff numbers: Curry 28 pts, 5 rbs, 6.4 ast, 1.9 stl (.456, .422, .835) Murray 26.6 pts, 4.8 rbs, 6.1 ast, .9 stl (.500, .475, .914) Raw numbers very similar, Murray slightly more efficient," read one of the tweets.

"Jamal Murray went full Steph Curry right there Cashed a deep three, hit em with a shimmy, AND beat LeBron James," wrote one of the fans after witnessing Murray's clutch play. And he wasn't the only one being compared. "Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic have been Steph Curry and Larry Bird in these playoffs," read a tweet.
"Exactly right. In comparison since they play the same position, Steph Curry broke out in his fourth year too. Murray is following a similar path. And I agree. If anything, this playoff appearance gets us exposure for somebody else to come aboard," a fan opined.

Well, here's one who thought Murray is actually better than Curry. "28 Points, 8 Rebounds, 12 Assists, 10-17 shooting, 4-8 from 3, 2 huge daggers. Shit, calling Murray the Canadian Steph Curry might be disrespecting Jamal a little bit," his tweet read.

While the Lakers were certainly outlasted for the major part of the night, some aggressive gameplay from Rajon Rondo and LeBron James saw them come inches close to snatching a win in the fourth quarter. Except, they ran into a red-hot Murray who wasn't ready to let go. James had 30 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds while Anthony Davis ended his evening with 27. For the Nuggets, Grant scored a playoff career-high 26 points, while Jokic chipped in with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
To end with, here's a consolation tweet from a Lakers fan: "Maybe next gameplay with intensity for 48 minutes & not just 10 minutes, then Iβd like our chances. People gonna blame Kuz cuz heβs the easy scapegoat but literally everybody played bad tonight. Regroup & we got this."
