However, one of the theories that stuck with us was recently published on Reddit where a user named ‘SpiritedDeduction’ gave us an idea of how Time Variance Authority could change the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) forever.

For the uninitiated, in the comics, Time Variance Authority (TVA) is an organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors all realities across the multiverse in the Marvel universe. They have the resources to eliminate timelines if they are deemed too dangerous to exist. They also take action to prevent other beings from altering the past or future.

Meanwhile, in MCU, Owen Wilson’s Mobius M Mobius is heading a team of agents and judges regulating one of the timelines. In Episode 1, the TVA is presented to be on the good side. However, Reddit seems to be thinking the other way around.

Is TVA really diabolical?

According to the Reddit user SpiritedDeduction, TVA is actually a “malevolent” organization that is just trying to maintain the dominance of its own timeline. The user also claims that the Loki (Tom Hiddleston) we see on the show is actually a future version of the master manipulator who knows that the Time Variance Authority is evil. Maybe that’s why TVA has captured Loki. It seems TVA knew that Loki was determined to mess up all the timelines and rule the ‘space’. The organization also had an idea about the threat he posed to their authority and hence, decided to intercept him.

“The TVA is in fact malevolent, the multiverse is actually supposed to exist along with ‘variants’, but after the multiverse war mentioned in the first episode, the Time Keepers and TVA emerged as a dominant authority and now routinely sweep time and space for rogue timelines or variants that pose a threat to their authority in order to maintain their ‘prime timeline’. (Hence why the Avengers, a benevolent organization who obviously have no plans for domination were not immediately intercepted by the TVA for messing with the timeline during their time heist but 2012 Loki, who was determined to rule ‘space’, was),” the Reddit user posted.

Even if TVA is diabolical, how would Loki be able to stop the organization from sweeping rogue timelines or variants? We believe that Loki might destroy the organization after convincing himself that they are actually evil. However, it will be interesting to see which variant of Loki will be able to succeed in piercing the TVA, leading to the titular multiverse of madness we will see in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.

We all know how Marvel loves to shock us with jaw-dropping revelations and this might be the biggest of them all. People might think that it is impossible, but it surely is one of the most compelling fan theories we have ever read and if the theory turns out to be true, it would change the entire Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What are your thoughts on the fan theory? ‘Loki’ returns to Disney+ with a new episode every Wednesday.
