'Locked Up' aka 'El Oasis' Season 5: Meet Maggie Civanto, Najwa Nimri and rest of the cast of Netflix thriller
The series 'Locked Up' aired in Spain on Antena 3 in 2015 and was picked up by streamer giant Netflix for international distribution. It's also called 'Vis a Vis: El Oasis.' If you've watched the show, you may have had a deja vu moment about the hit series 'Orange Is the New Black' starring Taylor Schilling — in this story Maggie Civantos plays Schilling's role. It is of course not the exact same story but does have the same angle — both women are trying to make it out of jail alive. Here is the cast bringing back the intense narrative for Season 5.
Maggie Civantos as Macarena Ferreiro
Civantos is known for her roles as Helen in 'Alan' (2018) for which she shared a Jury Prize for Best Performance/ Acting in 2019 with her castmates, Meme in 'Antes de la quema' (2019) for which she won a Silver Bixnaga for Best Supporting Actress in 2019 and Norma in 'Rubita' for which she won a Jury Prize for Best Actress in 2015. The actress currently has the release titled 'La chica de los cigarrillos' in post-production where she plays the role of Eva in this release. She also has a production titled 'Las rubias' in pre-production.
Since 'Locked Up' aka 'El Oasis' had originally aired in Spain and is now on releasing its 5th season, the cast has already been recognized for their talent. Civantos won an Ondas Award in 2015 for National Television: Best Actress - she shared this award with her castmates Inma Cuevas, María Isabel Díaz Lago, Alba Flores, Najwa Nimri and Berta Vázquez. In 2016 she also won an Award of the Spanish Actors Union for Television: Lead Performance, Female for the same production.
Najwa Nimri as Zulema Zahir
Nimri is known for her roles as Nuria in 'Open Your Eyes' (1997), Elena in 'Sex and Lucia' (2001), Ana in 'Lovers of the Arctic Circle' (1998) for which she won a film award for Best Actress in 1998 and of course Alicia Sierra in the hit series 'Money Heist' (2019-2020). In 1996 the actress won the Jean Carment Award for 'Salto al vacío' (1995) where she played the role of Alex. She is also known for her role as La Conejo in '20 Centimeters' (2005) for which she won a Silver Biznaga for Best Music at the 2005 Málaga Spanish Film Festival - she shared this award with Pascal Gaigne. For 'Locked Up' aka 'El Oasis' she won a Fotogramas de Plata for Best TV actress in 2019 and also the Ondas Award in 2015 for National Television: Best Actress shared with her castmates.
Itziar Castro as Goya
Castro, an actress and producer, is known for her roles as Señora con Pamela in '[REC] 3: Genesis (2012)', Ana in 'Killing God' (2017) for which she won an International Competition award for Best Actress at Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre in 2017 and herself in 'Skins' (2017) for which she won the Newcomer Award in 2018 at the Spanish Actors Union. Her most recent works include 'Perfect Life' (2019), 'Validas' (2020), 'ASYLUM: Twisted Horror and Fantasy Tales' (2020), and 'Por H o por B' (2020). She has one release in post-production titled 'No Nos Callaran' and one in pre-production titled '28.'
Carlos Hipólito as Leopoldo Ferreiro Lobo
Hipólito is known for his roles as Felipe II in 'The Ministry of Time' (2016-2020), Bernardo Valle in 'Guante Blanco' (2008), Doctor Vigil in '1898: Our Last Men in the Philippines' (2016), Carlos in 'My Soul Brother' (1994) for which he won the Francisco Rabal Award for Best Actor and Alfredo Marcos in 'Desaparecida' (2007-2008). He is also known for his role as Antonio in the TV series 'Hermanos' (2014) for which he won the Award of the Spanish Actors Union for Television: Performance in a Minor Role, Male in 2015. His recent works include 'El credit,' 'The Curse of the Handsome Man' and 'My Heart Goes Boom!'
Berta Vázquez as Estefanía Kabila Silva "Rizos"
Vázquez, whose real name is Birtukan Tibebe is known for her roles as Bisila in 'Palm Tress in the Snow' (2015), and Camarera in 'En tu cabeza' (2016). For 'Locked Up' aka 'El Oasis' she won an Ondas Award in 2015 for National Television: Best Actress shared with her castmates and in 2016 she won the Newcome Award for the same production.
