Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lizzo continued flaunting her series of election outfits as she posed half naked, clad in the American flag, to send a strong message on poll day. In a long and emotional Instagram post, she shared: “Because of you, I’m still hopeful.” Lizzo has a name for making bold appearances to express powerful political sentiments across her audience. In her compelling election day post, she posed with a bell bottom striped trouser and shoulder studded with US flag stars on one side of her body, while the other half remained completely naked. The singer wrote: “When I think of this country I don’t think of its laws I think of its people.”

In a true 'Truth Hurts' spirit, Lizzo said, “I think about how we were raised to be patriotic of violence, propaganda and war.” “I think about how this country is owned by the oppressor and how the oppressed are locked in a valley of capitalism,” she continued. But the hard-hitting lived truths were not all in the 32-years-old singer’s mind as she listed down a spate of reasons for which she is holding on to hope. “But I also think of the young people who refuse to be spoon fed mistruths. I think of the elders who bucked against hateful prejudices even when it felt impossible….”

She strongly reasserted her faith in the country that “teaches the true history so we can better understand where we live and how we can do better. I believe in a country that listens to the cries of protester and doesn’t politicize death”. Lizzo said she believes in “restoration of this beautiful land and respecting the communities of people who owned America before colonizers renamed it”. The singer echoed the dream of millions of liberal activists putting forth her faith in “fairness, equality, a complete removal of religion in places where it does not belong. Let religion live in the churches and places of worship... the quiet prayer rooms, the joyful congregations. and out of Congress”.

Lizzo ended the long heartfelt caption stating, “We the people, ALL the people, deserve it” and asking her followers, “stay in line and stay determined and thank you for voting.” Lizzo, known best to her fans for being “100% that b**ch”, has always received mixed reactions from the Netizens for her bold stance. One Twitter user asked, “Lizzo for 2024??” while another posted, I love her!!! She’s definitely fam.” More followed as, “We got this. Cuz...Lizzo.” Another fan wrote, "I love ⁦@lizzo ⁩! She is fierce, talented, & stunningly beautiful. #bodybeautiful #vote #lizzo."

Lizzo’s election outfit series featured her wearing an Ameican flag top as her voting attire. She was also seen dressing up as a fly from the presidential debate for her Halloween costume, garnering hilarious reactions from the Internet.

Lizzo’s political activism doesn’t just stop at her writing long touching captions. In August 2020, she collaborated with the Australian sunglasses brand Quay to launch a campaign and donated $100,000 from the collaboration to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc (LDF) and the Lawyers’ Committee campaign. She was also seen urging people to vote when she walked for the Billboards Music Show Awards with the word “Vote” etched on her dress.
