Lingerie brand Adore Me slammed for 'tacky' and 'classless' advertisement promoting MLK day sale
Several users took to social media to criticize Adore Me for the promotion and promised to boycott the brand in the future
While brands have always used national holidays as opportunities to push new campaigns or promote day-long sales, it seems like one brand took it a bit too far. Social media users have been chastizing lingerie brand Adore Me for an advertisement that has been described as "tacky" and of "incredibly poor taste".
The backlash began after one of the brand's promotions for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 21 popped up as a push notification on many shoppers' phones.
"We have a dream... about NEW lingerie!" the emoticon heavy message from the company read, seemingly borrowing phrasing from the civil rights activist's most iconic speech. "Celebrate MLK with empowering new sets: Buy 1, get 1 FREE! Swipe to shop."
