Lily Norton: Maine girl, 6, brutally mauled by pit bull undergoes 11 hours of surgery and over 1K stitches
CHESTERVILLE, MAINE: The life of a family in Maine turned upside down when their little daughter was viciously attacked by a pit bull. Lily Norton had reportedly gone to a friend’s house when the incident took place last Saturday, February 18. The pit bull reportedly had the girl in its mouth.
The six-year-old reportedly required 11 hours of surgery and more than 1000 stitches, but it has been stated that her health is still unstable as she receives care in the intensive care unit at Boston Children's Hospital. “Her salivary glands aren't working … and doctors said she won't be able to smile again. Muscles are too damaged,” a family friend, CJ Pitcher, told The Sun Journal.

‘The dog had Lily in her mouth'
Explaining how the incident unfolded, Lily’s mother, Dorothy Norton, told “They were going to play cards at the table, so she sat down at the table, the friend went and got the cards, and then as soon as the friend walked back in the room, she screamed to her mom because the dog had Lily in her mouth," as per News Center Maine.
The mother also mentioned that the little one is “so energetic. She loves to be outside, loves it. And she doesn't hate all dogs, at least that's what she told me. She just doesn't want to see that one again.” Dorothy Norton then went on to point out Lily’s current condition and said, “She's still sedated because she has a breathing tube in. But other than that, she's really good. She looks really good.”
