Is Lil Uzi Vert buying a planet? Rapper's plan mocked as 'rich people doing stupid s**t'
Rapper Lil Uzi Vert dropped a huge surprise on his fans with the news of potentially becoming the first human to buy a planet. Symere Bysil Woods, 27, who goes by the name Lil Uzi Vert, has proven to be very instinctive. From suddenly dropping albums to getting a $24 million pink diamond implanted in his head, the rapper never fails to surprise his fans.
Now, Lil Uzi is on the verge of being the first human to legally own a planet. The news was revealed by tech mogul Elon Musk's girlfriend Grimes, who posted a picture of a planet outside of the solar system, called WASP-127b, and wrote on Twitter, "Apparently @LILUZIVERT owns this planet – just a heads up." To which, Lil Uzi replied, "I tried 2 surprise everyone," adding, "Still working on it."

Grimes then wrote in her tweet, "Documentation almost complete for @LILUZIVERT to legally claim wasp-127b – this is huge! First human to legally own a planet." The WASP-127b is a gas giant exoplanet that is 1.4 times larger than Jupiter and orbiting a yellow star (like the Sun). It was discovered in 2016. Its mass is 0.1647 Jupiters and it takes 4.2 Earth days to complete one orbit of its star. It is situated 0.0484 AU from its star. It is located about 522.6 light-years (160.2 pc) away from the Solar System.
No further information is available on the said 'purchase' at the moment. It is also not clear how much the rapper is spending on legally buying the planet and from whom, or what does it actually mean in terms of ownership.
Can you buy a planet?
Any country is prohibited to own any natural object in outer space according to laws by the Outer Space Treaty. However, these laws do not apply to ordinary people or even companies. It is also important to note here that there is no way to enforce the ownership of a natural object in space.
