Lifelong Democrat calls Nancy Pelosi's impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump a 'disaster'

Bryan Dean Wright, a former CIA officer, says the party lacks a direction with regard to the while eyeing the president's impeachment and said it was like launching the Titanic into a giant iceberg.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, on September 24, announced the launch of a formal impeachment inquiry on President Donald Trump after allegations that he sought help from Ukraine to defeat Joe Biden, former vice president and a Democratic presidential hopeful for next year’s election.

Trump’s critics were overjoyed by the move and a number of hashtags started trending on social media, like: #Impeachment, #ImpeachTrump, #ImpeachTrumpParty and #ImpeachTheMF. The political space was polarized over the development with the president and his Republican Party hitting out at the opponents.

But there were also inner voices. And one of them is Bryan Dean Wright, a former CIA officer and a self-procalimed Democrat. He refused to concede that the idea of impeaching Trump was a “wise” one. Speaking on ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ on Fox News, Wright likened Pelosi’s launch of the impeachment inquiry with that of the Titanic “into a giant iceberg in 2020."

‘Impeachment inquiry a disaster’

“The whole thing is a disaster. Pelosi launched the Titanic tonight into a gigantic iceberg in November 2020. We had up until now, yesterday, really the last couple of weeks it was all Russia. As of later this morning, it was Ukraine. This afternoon, Pelosi says ‘you know what, actually now that I know Trump is releasing the transcripts of the phone call, it’s not so much about Ukraine. It’s about other things to be identified'," Wright said on Fox News.

“So, really it comes down to it, we don’t like Trump and so we’re gonna move forward with impeachment because that’s what our base wants, and that is absurd. That’s not how it’s supposed to work, at all, in our republic. Those are called elections. The Democratic Party other than folks like Tulsi Gabbard understands this. But unfortunately this party is led by people like Chuck and Nancy, and progressives and The Squad, that are driving this party off of the cliff.”

Wright said he was sure the brains behind the move were the likes of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other freshmen, adding that the Democrats are not thinking critically or even for themselves. He also asked why the Democrats weren’t asking questions about the controversial business dealings that Joe’s son Hunter had in Ukraine that have come under the scanner during this Trump versus Bidens episode. Democratic Representative from Texas Vincente Gonzalez has already sought clarity on the Bidens’ contradictory claims over having a talk about Hunter’s overseas business dealings.

Wright, who has in the past tried to advise the Democrats over asking the right questions to their political opponents, said the US president didn’t invent the story and felt the Democrats’ “hooking” their future on this over the election year was a disaster.

Wright also brought into the discussion a Russia angle saying its intelligence service has “Kiev wired” and there is every possibility of it knowing inside out of the Hunter story. He cautioned that Russian President Vladimir Putin will make up stories on the episode and another steroid-driven Steele Dossier was on the way.

“We are going to put this country through hell again for absolutely no discernible reason. Here we go again,” Wright said.

Wright, who tore into former FBI director James Comey over his handling of Trump, is a moderate Democrat who thinks his own party needs to take rebirth. Born in a rural family in Oregon which was inspired by Democratic presidents like FDR and JFK, Wright feels the party has a good future only if it rediscovers the legacies of some of its great leaders from the past. The man believes in ideals like compromise and progress and thinks only those can help the US can inch forward.
