'Law & Order: Organized Crime’ is turning out to be grittier than any other previous version. The spin-off series started with a two-hour crossover event and saw Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) grieving the death of his wife. The episode also saw a reunion of Stabler and Detective Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay).

The first episode totally focused on Stabler trying hard to find his wife's killer. Meanwhile, the second episode featured a much bigger problem, a problem that could create a lot of chaos in the entire country. Episode 2 tackles the problem of Covid-19 in the nation and how the government is working on vaccinating the people to prevent the spread of the disease. However, there is someone who doesn’t want the public to get their hands on the vaccine and wants to earn an enormous amount of money by selling it on the black market.

Who is Richard Wheatley and why is he a suspect?

Richard Wheatley (Dylan McDermott) is a businessman with close ties to the Mafia and is strongly suspected to be involved in organized crime, with his online pharmaceutical company Computros believed to be a front for an illegal narcotics ring. He is the son of the criminal mastermind Manfredi Sinatra (Chazz Palminteri). Richard is turning out to become a huge name in the criminal underworld. He owns a lot of businesses and now wants to lead the crime syndicate in the absence of his father.

The rich businessman also owns a dessert company known as the ‘Nitro Nibbles’. Now, why would Wheatley buy a dessert company when his area of work is completely different? The answer to that question is: to steal the Covid-19 vaccines. His gang of thugs steal an entire truck of Covid-19 vaccines and takes it to a cold storage warehouse. Stabler and his team get to know about his ‘dessert’ company and try to match all the missing links. One of the team members, Jet Sloomaekers (Ainsley Seiger), tells Stabler that all the dessert made by ‘Nitro Nibbles’ is kept in the trucks that run at -122 degrees. Meanwhile, the vaccines are needed to keep under -80 degrees.

But the biggest piece of evidence they get when the workers at the ‘Nitro Nibbles’ post some pictures on social media and in the background, we see the boxes of the vaccines. Stabler and his team reach the storage facility, but someone tipped Wheatley and all the vaccines were moved out of the warehouse. The team finds another way to locate the vaccines and Stabler meets a woman whose doctor is giving the vaccine to all of his rich clients. Stabler poses as a rich man and enters the medical facility. He takes the photo of the vaccine and arrests the doctor for illegally vaccinating the rich people.

Wheatley is not happy with what has happened and vows to take revenge.

Will Wheatley make Stabler’s life miserable?

Wheatley is a pure businessman and money is all he cares about. His illegal business of providing Covid-19 vaccines to everyone was making him earn an enormous amount of money. But Stabler has put a dent on his business by arresting a renowned doctor. At the end of the episode, we see two masked men trying to injure Stabler’s son Eli (Nicky Torchia). However, the detective sees them and tells his son to go inside the house. Stabler and the masked men get into a fight. At first, he is able to neutralize the threat but eventually gets outnumbered by the thugs.

Wheatley will do anything to make his life miserable while Stabler will be doing everything to arrest Wheatley for all his wrongdoings. It will be interesting to see how Wheatley manages to do his dirty work with police keeping a track of all his movements. On the other hand, Stabler would be taking the case personally because Richard is also a suspect in his wife’s murder.

‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ returns to NBC with a new episode every Thursday at 10 pm ET.
