Who is Landen Christopher Glass? Out-of-control truck driver, 20, mows down girl at Raleigh Christmas parade

RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA: A man has been accused of killing a young girl dancing at a North Carolina Christmas parade after striking her with his out-of-control truck. Landen Christopher Glass, 20, claimed that the brakes of his white GMC Sierra failed during the tragedy in downtown Raleigh on Saturday, November 19. Glass was also found with a gun. The victim, who was not named, was dancing with the CC & Company Dance Complex. The incident took place at Hillsborough Road at Boylan Avenue.
Not much has been revealed about Glass at the moment except that he is facing charges of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, careless and reckless driving, improper equipment, unsafe movement, and carrying a firearm in a parade following the tragedy. Police said the truck hit the girl at a low rate of speed, according to the Daily Mail. The girl could not be saved despite life-saving efforts. No other people were injured.

Horrifying videos that are viral on social media show the truck's inability to stop after driving into a crowd of dancers. The driver can be heard yelling out of his window that he could not use the brakes. At least 6 people, including two police officers, are seen trying to physically stop the truck.

CC & Company Dance Complex released a statement on Facebook, saying, "We are still in shock as we write these words to you. We also know many of our young ones witnessed this tragedy and that is hard to fathom as well." In the statement, the company asked people to "please reach out to each other" and "pray for our dance families". They also asked people to "please refrain from judgment regarding what happened until we know more and the authorities have finished their investigation."

"What we do know is our hearts are broken and we must find ways to help each other through this," the statement read. "We never expected to experience a day like today, and the only thing getting us through is the tremendous we've seen expressed among our CC & Co. Dance family," they added.
In a statement, the Raleigh police department said, "Our hearts go out to the family of the victim and those who witnessed this tragic incident. The victim’s family has asked for privacy during this very difficult time.”
